2016 High Lifter Quadna Mud Nationals: Results and Photos

More than 2,600 ATV and UTV enthusiasts gathered at Quadna Mountain Park in Hill City, Minnesota, for the fourth annual High Lifter Quadna Mud Nationals, presented by Polaris. Held June 9–12, 2016, the event combined trail riding, mud racing, an obstacle course, sled pulling, freestyle exhibitions and manufacturer displays.

VIP Trail Ride and Opening Activities

The weekend began with a High Lifter VIP day that gave participants an extra day of riding and activities. High Lifter owner Scott Smith led a roughly 40-mile trail ride through the Minnesota woods before the group returned for a cookout, prize drawings and a private barn dance with live music.

The main event opened Friday with a weekend of competitions, racing and exhibitions. More than 250 attendees also participated in the MB Quart Spin to Win promotion, which awarded prizes supplied by High Lifter and event vendors.

Obstacle Course, Poker Run and Freestyle Show

The AMSOIL Obstacle Course tested competitors across whoops, rocks, a tire hill, mud pit, tunnel and jump. Drivers had to negotiate every section while racing the clock for the quickest overall time.

The Arctic Cat Poker Run sent riders to five stops around the park in pursuit of the event’s highest and lowest poker hands. Younger spectators were especially drawn to the Big Air Tour, where ATV freestyle riders performed aerial tricks and jumps.

Polaris Mud Bog and Sled Pull

The Polaris Sled Pull rewarded machines capable of moving the heaviest load over the greatest distance. The Polaris Mud Bog attracted racers from across the United States and Canada, with classes for everything from relatively mild machines to heavily modified mud builds and side-by-sides.

Some competitors powered cleanly through the mud pit, while others became stuck and needed to be recovered. Polaris, Arctic Cat, Can-Am and CFMOTO also attended the event with displays of contemporary ATVs and UTVs.

High Lifter later returned to Minnesota for additional events, including the 2019 Quadna Mud Nationals. The company’s influence also extended into factory vehicles, as explored in our history of Polaris RZR and RANGER High Lifter Edition UTVs.
