Camp RZR West rolled into Glamis over Halloween weekend in 2014 and drew thousands of Polaris RZR owners and off-road fans to California’s Imperial Sand Dunes. The customer-appreciation event combined entertainment, giveaways, demo rides, vendor displays, family activities and direct access to Polaris staff.
Travis Pastrana won the RZR 170 race at Camp RZR West.
RZR Racing, Demo Rides and Free Repairs
The fenced Camp RZR area included new-machine walk-arounds, vendor displays, a mobile Polaris repair shop and a massive LED screen showing some of the year’s most popular UTV videos.
Polaris also invited professional racers, company executives and celebrities to race a fleet of stock Polaris RZR 170s around a purpose-built track. When the racing was over, action-sports star Travis Pastrana had taken the win.
Attendees could sign up for free demo rides in several of the latest sport UTVs, including the Polaris RZR XP 1000, RZR XP 4 1000 and RZR S 900.
One of the most valuable Camp RZR services was the mobile repair facility. Polaris technicians again provided free repairs for Polaris owners, reinforcing the event’s focus on supporting the people who bought and used the machines.
A Family Event at Glamis
Camp RZR West was more than a vehicle display or industry trade show. Kids could go trick-or-treating, play in bounce houses, work on arts and crafts and participate in organized games. That family focus made the Halloween weekend gathering accessible to everyone in camp, not just the drivers.

Polaris capped the weekend by giving away a customized RZR XP 1000. Joe F. from San Diego received the keys, providing a fitting finish to an event created to thank Polaris customers and the wider RZR community.
Camp RZR combined a large customer gathering with entertainment, technical support and riding in the dunes.
Picking Up Our New RZR XP 1000
One of my personal highlights from the trip was picking up UTVGuide.net’s TMW Off-Road 2015 Polaris RZR XP 1000 build. The Havasu Red machine had been delivered to TMW Off-Road about a month earlier so it could be transformed into a purpose-built Glamis car.
TMW Off-Road installed a Venom cage and doors, Cognito Motorsports long-travel suspension, FOX internal-bypass shocks, Rigid Industries LED lighting and Triple X seats. Wolf Designs finished the body with a custom wrap, while HiPer Fusion beadlock wheels and STU sand tires from Fullerton Sand Sports completed the dune setup.
The finished RZR exceeded my expectations, and Camp RZR West provided the perfect setting for its first trip to Glamis.

Camp RZR’s Impact
Camp RZR West showed how large the RZR community had become by 2014. Polaris brought product support, entertainment, racing and family activities directly to one of the country’s most popular dune destinations. It was an effective way to thank existing owners while giving prospective buyers a chance to experience the latest RZR models in their natural environment.
More than a decade later, this event remains an important snapshot of the early growth of both Camp RZR and the Polaris RZR community.
