Pro Armor Doors for the 2014 Polaris RZR XP 1000

Polaris RZR XP 1000 Doors

Pro Armor introduced a new set of aluminum doors for the 2014 Polaris RZR XP 1000 in January 2014. The direct-fit doors replaced the vehicle’s factory quarter doors with additional coverage, a reverse-hinged design and an upgraded latch system.

The original RZR XP 1000 quickly became one of the most heavily customized sport UTVs of its generation. Doors were among its most common early upgrades because they added side coverage while changing the appearance and entry characteristics of the vehicle.

Aluminum Bolt-On Construction

Pro Armor constructed the doors from aluminum to balance strength with relatively low weight. They were designed to bolt directly onto the two-seat XP 1000 without drilling, although the mounting system provided adjustment to help align each door with the vehicle’s bodywork.

Accent panels helped fill the gaps around the factory body panels and gave the doors a more finished appearance. Pro Armor initially offered them in black and brushed-aluminum finishes, with additional colors and combinations planned at the time of their introduction.

Reverse-Hinged Design

Unlike a conventional forward-hinged door, the Pro Armor design placed the hinge toward the rear. This allowed the doors to open nearly 180 degrees and provided a large opening for entering or exiting the RZR.

A limit strap was included to control how far each door could open and help prevent contact with the vehicle’s rear bodywork.

Upgraded Latch and Lever

Pro Armor equipped the doors with an automotive-style latch and a rubber-molded release lever. According to the company, the revised system was designed to close securely while reducing the rattling sometimes associated with metal UTV door latches.

The molded lever also provided a more comfortable contact surface than an uncoated metal handle.

Optional Accessories

An Early RZR XP 1000 Upgrade

These doors were released only a few months after the original XP 1000 reached dealerships. Their arrival reflected how quickly the aftermarket embraced Polaris’ new 64-inch sport UTV platform.
