Polaris returned to Dubai from February 5–7, 2015, for the second Camp RZR UAE, bringing its growing RZR owner celebration back to the dunes of the United Arab Emirates.
The event represented an important early step in the international growth of both the Polaris RZR and Camp RZR. Although the gathering was smaller than the enormous Camp RZR events held at Glamis, it gave Polaris an opportunity to meet directly with RZR owners in one of the world’s most distinctive dune-riding regions.
Camp RZR Returns to the UAE
Polaris introduced Camp RZR UAE near Dubai in March 2014. That inaugural gathering was modeled after the original Camp RZR at Glamis, which UTVGuide.net attended over New Year’s weekend in 2012.
Following the first UAE event, Polaris returned for a second edition in February 2015. The program included riding activities, new-product displays, giveaways, a traditional desert barbecue and an evening campfire.
A Show and Shine gave local owners an opportunity to display their customized RZRs. The custom-vehicle competition had already become a popular part of Camp RZR in the United States and developed into one of the highlights of the second Dubai gathering.
RZR Owners Meet RJ Anderson
Professional driver and XP1K star RJ Anderson attended Camp RZR UAE and quickly became one of the event’s biggest attractions. The XP1K video series had helped introduce Anderson and high-performance RZR driving to an international online audience, making his appearance particularly popular with owners in Dubai.
Anderson joined representatives from the American RZR community in meeting local enthusiasts, examining their custom machines and helping judge the Show and Shine. The interaction demonstrated how far the RZR community had expanded beyond its original North American market.
Vehicle Demonstrations in the Dubai Desert
The 2015 event extended beyond the RZR lineup. Polaris scheduled demonstrations of RZR and RANGER side-by-sides along with its ATV and single-seat ACE models. This allowed prospective customers to experience several parts of the company’s off-road lineup in terrain closely matched to the region’s riding culture.
Dubai’s surrounding desert provided a natural setting for Camp RZR. Large dunes, an established powersports community and strong interest in modified high-performance vehicles helped make the UAE one of Polaris RZR’s most visible international markets during this period.
Camp RZR Expands Beyond Glamis
Camp RZR began as a family-oriented owner celebration at the Glamis Beach Store property in California. The event combined dune riding with vehicle displays, vendors, owner services, entertainment and opportunities to meet Polaris engineers and racers.
By 2014, Polaris was taking that concept to other riding communities. Camp RZR UAE brought it to the Middle East, while the inaugural Camp RZR East at Brimstone Recreation attracted more than 12,000 attendees in Tennessee.
The second Dubai event showed that Camp RZR could be adapted to a different country and riding culture while retaining its central purpose: bringing Polaris representatives, athletes and owners together around a shared interest in off-road recreation.
Part of Camp RZR History
Camp RZR ultimately became closely associated with the opening of the Glamis dune season, but the 2015 UAE gathering remains an interesting chapter in the event’s history. It illustrated the international reach RZR had achieved less than a decade after the original model entered production.
Polaris continued developing Camp RZR over the following decade, including the large-scale Camp RZR 2025 at Glamis with demonstrations, custom vehicles, entertainment and activities for RZR owners.
This article covers the completed February 2015 event. Dates, locations and activities from this historical gathering should not be interpreted as information about a current Camp RZR event.
