The Honda Pioneer 700-4 combines a utility bed with seating for up to four people in a compact side-by-side. Its defining feature is Honda’s QuickFlip rear seating system: raise either rear seat when passengers come along, then fold the seats into the bed when it is time to carry cargo.

QuickFlip Seating: Two, Three or Four Occupants
The Pioneer 700-4’s two rear seats fold individually into the cargo-bed floor. With both seats down, it functions as a two-seat utility UTV with its full tilting bed. Raising one seat provides room for three occupants; raising both allows four people to ride. Bed space and usable cargo capacity change when the rear seats are occupied, so the 1,000-pound bed rating should not be read as an additional load allowance with four people aboard.
Engine, Transmission and Work Capability
The original Pioneer 700-4 uses a fuel-injected, liquid-cooled 675cc single-cylinder engine and a three-speed automotive-style automatic transmission with a hydraulic torque converter. The transmission provides engine braking without a CVT drive belt. Drivers can select 2WD, 4WD or 4WD with the front differential locked for low-traction conditions.
Honda rated the early Pioneer 700-4 for up to 1,500 pounds of towing and 1,000 pounds of cargo-bed load in its cargo configuration. Independent double-wishbone suspension provides 7.9 inches of front travel and 9.1 inches of rear travel. The machine was designed and built in the United States.
What Changed for 2017?
For the 2017 model year, Honda added a Pioneer 700-4 Deluxe alongside the standard 700-4. The Deluxe brought electric power steering, aluminum wheels, painted bodywork and color-matched suspension springs. It also added a dash switch for automatic or manual shifting: steering-column paddles select gears in manual mode and can temporarily override the automatic shift schedule.
All 2017 Pioneer 700 models received a revised front bumper, fascia and graphics. The QuickFlip rear seats remained the distinguishing feature of both four-seat versions. The Deluxe features described here apply to the 2017 Deluxe trim, not automatically to every Pioneer 700-4 or to the model as it was first introduced.
