Gilbert, AZ (August 6, 2013) – ASCC announced today they are moving their September race from Tucson International Raceway to the newly named “Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park” (formerly Firebird International Raceway). In addition to moving the venue back to Chandler, The Lucas Oil Regional Series Arizona will also move the race date ahead three weeks, from Saturday September 7, 2013 to Saturday September 28, 2013.
“This has been a challenging year for us,” commented Tim Jones, President of ASCC. “The closure of Speedworld and the uncertainty of Firebird earlier this year forced us to look at multiple ‘temporary track’ facilities. At the regional level building a track for each race event was too cost prohibiting. We have been working closely with the new management at the Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park and yesterday we finalized a deal with them for the remainder of our 2013 season. “
“We never like to change venues or dates mid-season. When rescheduling events, we take into account many factors, such as track availability, the timing of other venues in which our racers and sponsors compete, and travel convenience for all those involved,” said Tim Jones. “We believe the new location and date will offer the most benefits and least conflicts for our racers, sponsors, vendors, and crew.”
“It is still our goal to incorporate Tucson into our race schedule in the future. Many of our racers are from Tucson as well as sponsors and fans who are looking forward to having a short course off-road race in their home town. We will continue to work with the great people at the Tucson International Raceway for future events.”
