Magnum Offroad’s Can-Am Comander
UTV of the Month for September 2012By Joey DiGiovanni When UTVUnderground.com sought out to photograph our first feature build for our new site design we knew exactly which UTV we wanted to shoot. Magnum Offroads shop Can-Am Commander 1000X, dubbed MOX by its owner and creator Danny Rosenzweig, was at the top of our list. While many have seen it in the dunes of Glamis, CA, only those who have made it to Magnum Offroad s shop have actually seen this work of art up close. Magnum Dan as he is known to those close to him, has been an innovator in the UTV industry since the Rhino craze took off in 2005. It was then that he designed the now infamous 2006 Yamaha Rhino dubbed the Milk Truck which set trends amongst the custom UTV scene in and around Southern California. It was only natural that he follow up the Milk Truck with yet another innovative and creatively designed UTV such as his new MOX Commander. From the frame up this Can-Am screams mean and its details make this Commander one of the coolest UTVs we have ever seen. UTVUnderground has been able to watch this machine transform over the past year from a showroom stock Commander 1000X to the machine you see displayed in the images taken by UTVUnderground Director of Photography Vincent Knakal (Mad Media). It all starts with Magnums +4 boxed suspension system bolstering impressive 14″ Front and 15″ Rear travel numbers. This was no slapped together system as Magnum Offroad went through 3 renditions of the kit before ever releasing it to the public. To call Danny Rosenzweig a perfectionist is an understatement as most people, including myself would have called it good the second time, if not the first time. This patience and will to develop the best products possible is what sets Danny and the team at Magnum apart from many in the off-road industry. Partners from many different realms of motorsports play consultant to the team at Magnum, always seeking the best at their trade Magnum is not afraid to call on experts to gain an edge when developing and building new products. We believe the photos do say a thousand words but in most cases do not do this build justice. You do however get a sense of just how cool this powerful UTV is by looking at the custom class-1 cage Danny and the crew at Magnum designed and fabricated. It was all finished off with black powder-coated aluminum paneling and a hot set of wheels and tires. In all the MOX Commander is definitely worthy of being the first featured UTV on the new re-designed UTVUnderground.com. Specifications:
