TMW Off-Road “Sleeper” Polaris RZR XP 900

TMW Off-Road’s turbocharged Polaris RZR XP 900 combined understated styling with serious dune performance. Built for Destination Polaris, the “Sleeper” featured a K&T Performance turbo kit, long-travel suspension, Elka shocks and a long list of carefully selected accessories.

A Turbo RZR XP Built for Destination Polaris

TMW Off-Road of Mesa, Arizona, built the Sleeper as a project for the television show Destination Polaris. The project began with a Polaris RZR XP 900, which was one of the most exciting sport side-by-sides available at the time.

Rather than cover the RZR in flashy graphics and oversized accessories, TMW Off-Road gave it a clean, understated appearance. The subtle paint scheme helped conceal the extensive performance work underneath, making “Sleeper” a fitting name for the finished machine.

At the heart of the build was an air-to-air turbo system from K&T Performance. Lonestar Racing STS suspension and Elka shocks helped the RZR put that additional power to the ground while maintaining control across rough desert terrain and the Glamis sand dunes.

Clean Styling with Serious Performance

TMW Off-Road equipped the RZR with its Intimidator roll cage, PreRunner front bumper and EX2 side panels. Triple X seats and Simpson harnesses upgraded the cockpit, while an SSV Works and JL Audio stereo system provided entertainment between dune runs.

OMF beadlock wheels wrapped in Fullerton Sand Sports paddle tires completed the dune setup. A second set of MOTO Sport Alloy Elixr wheels and dirt tires allowed the RZR to transition back to hard-packed trails and desert terrain.

Doug Tyler of TMW Off-Road described the Sleeper as a dream build that gave the team an opportunity to take a RZR XP and turn it into exactly the machine they wanted to drive.

We caught up with the TMW Off-Road crew during the 2012 Glamis UTV Industry Ride. Its combination of a clean appearance, turbocharged power and capable suspension made the Sleeper one of the standout builds at the event.
