UTV of the Month for May 2008
Holz Racing Products transformed this 2008 Polaris RANGER RZR into a competition-focused machine for the growing WORCS UTV racing scene. The build combined wider long-travel suspension, FOX shocks, a race roll cage and extensive chassis protection with engine, clutch and cooling upgrades.
The original RZR arrived as a compact 50-inch sport side-by-side, but aftermarket builders quickly recognized its potential beyond narrow trails. Builds like this one helped demonstrate how the early RZR platform could be adapted for faster and more demanding off-road competition. Learn more about that evolution in our history of the Polaris RZR.

Built for UTV Racing
The Holz Racing long-travel suspension and FOX shocks were central to the conversion, giving the early RZR a wider stance and a suspension package better suited to rough racecourses. OMF beadlock wheels and Maxxis tires completed the rolling package.
Inside, Recaro seats and Crow five-point harnesses helped secure the occupants, while the Holz race cage provided a competition-oriented occupant structure. A protected fuel cell, full skid plate package and heavy-duty bumpers addressed the additional demands encountered during racing.
Holz also modified the engine and clutch while adding an oil cooler, hood vent and BTI Performance Cyclone filter. Together, these upgrades created a more complete race package rather than simply adding suspension to an otherwise stock RZR.
