Can-Am UTV Models

Can-Am divides its side-by-side lineup among the Maverick sport family, the Commander recreation and utility crossover, and the Defender work-focused platform. The result is a broad range of vehicles covering narrow trails, technical rock crawling, dunes, desert terrain, hunting, farm work and factory-enclosed all-season use.

The Maverick R represents the top of Can-Am’s sport lineup, while the Maverick X3 remains an important high-performance platform. The Maverick Sport and Maverick Trail provide more compact alternatives. Yamaha RMAX Family

Yamaha UTV Models

Yamaha’s 2026 side-by-side lineup is centered on the Wolverine recreation and adventure families and the work-focused Viking platform. These vehicles emphasize predictable power delivery, durable drivetrain design and controlled handling across a variety of trail, recreational and utility applications.

Yamaha has announced a major change to its side-by-side business. The company will end in-house U.S. side-by-side production at its Newnan, Georgia facility after the 2026 model year. Yamaha says it intends to continue developing multi-purpose side-by-sides, but future models will be manufactured outside the Newnan plant. Specific future vehicles and production locations have not yet been announced.

2026 Yamaha Recreation UTVs

Yamaha Wolverine RMAX2 – A two-seat recreation and adventure UTV designed for technical trails and versatile backcountry use.
Yamaha Wolverine RMAX4 – A four-seat recreation platform with a long wheelbase and full-size rear passenger area.

Discontinued Yamaha Sport UTVs

Yamaha YXZ1000R and YXZ1000R SS – Yamaha’s naturally aspirated pure-sport side-by-sides combined a high-revving three-cylinder engine with geared transmissions instead of conventional belt-driven CVTs. The 2025 model year was the final production year, and Yamaha has not announced a successor.

The YXZ1000R remains an important performance and racing platform, while the earlier Yamaha Rhino helped redefine the recreational side-by-side and played a major role in creating the modern UTV market.

Kawasaki UTV Models

Kawasaki offers one of the most diverse side-by-side lineups, ranging from supercharged sport UTVs and technical trail machines to premium recreation vehicles and work-focused MULE platforms.

The TERYX H2 moves Kawasaki into the high-horsepower sport category, while the TERYX KRX is designed for technical recreational driving. The RIDGE family combines utility capability with a more refined cab and automotive-style comfort. Honda’s side-by-side lineup is built around the Talon sport family and the Pioneer recreation and utility range. Both use geared transmissions rather than the conventional belt-driven CVTs found in many competing UTVs.

The Talon is designed for performance-oriented trail, desert and dune driving, while the Pioneer lineup emphasizes utility, manageable dimensions and versatile passenger arrangements.
