Polaris hosted “Camp RZR” in Glamis for New Year’s Eve 2012. The event was held on nearly 10 acres of Glamis Beach Store property and featured a family-friendly environment geared towards celebrating the “RZR”. On hand with displays were FOX, ProLine Wraps, UTVUnderground, Dirt Theater, Go Pro, Traxxas, Holz Racing Products, Jagged X, American Sand Association, Ride Now, Walker Evans Racing, High Lifter Products and Polaris Defense. As if this wasn’t enough to get me to Glamis, Polaris invited members of the media to pick up their newPolaris RZR XP 900 H.O. Jagged X Edition demo units!
I arrived on Wednesday night and planned on playing with my 2013 RZR XP until 2 PM on Friday when Polaris was scheduled to hand over the keys to the new Jagged X RZR XP.
I have been in the middle of a full-tilt build on our 2013 RZR XP in preparation for the 2013 King of the Hammers UTV race. My goal for this build is to create a vehicle that can withstand the harsh rocks and desert of the race, without making the vehicle a single-purpose race rig. So far, I am thrilled with how the vehicle has turned out, and I looked at the trip to Glamis as a shake down of sorts for the car.
While out in the dunes, I hooked up with Tim from SDR Motorsports, Dave from Fullerton Sand Sports, Troy from UTV Off-Road Magazine, Wally from Side x Side Outfitterz, Bill and Matt from SxSPerformance.com, and Johnny from UTV Inc. It is always fun to tear up the dunes with friends in the industry.

Polaris RZR XP 900 H.O. Jagged X Edition – First Ride
Friday rolled around and all of the editors gathered at Camp RZR so we could get the keys to our newPolaris RZR XP 900 H.O. Jagged X Edition demo unit. I hooked up with Cody Hooper from Dirt Wheels, Troy and Don from UTV Off-Road Magazine and Wally from Dirt Sports and headed into the dunes. We took off from Glamis Flats and headed towards Oldsmobile Hill through the baby dunes.
After a few pictures, we tore off towards Olds and it was game on all the way to Osborne Overlook. I led the ride and it was big fun to watch Cody, Wally and Troy in the rear-view mirror while the diced it up.
The next morning, I added a few accessories to the new Jagged X RZR XP to make it more dune worthy. First thing was to mount up some sand tires. I got this set of STU Blasters from Fullerton Sand Sports and have them mounted up on 12″ OMF Billet Center Beadlock wheels. These tires are my absolute favorite in the sand and the changeable center on the OMF wheels allow me to swap between several different UTVs. Next I added SSV Works side-view mirrors, an Axia Alloys panoramic mirror and Axia Alloys fire extinguisher and mount.
Aaron from PRP Seats stopped by our camp to check out the seats looked in the new car (yes, those PRP Seats come standard in the Jagged X RZR XP). The he and I went out in the dunes for a ride.

Later in the day, I hooked up with 2012 WORCS champ Ryan Piplic for a ride. He wanted to see what the extra wheelbase and power was like in the dunes.
The new Jagged X RZR XP is a great addition to the Polaris RZR arsenal. The car is perfectly suited for the type of riding I like in the dunes and desert. Ample storage, solid power, great looks and added comfort from the power steering, PRP Seats and additional legroom.
Camp RZR
Polaris continues to amaze me. Camp RZR was the third press event this year for them at a time when most manufacturers have one tops and many had none. Not only do they continue to press forward at a blinding pace, but they deliver vehicles that enthusiasts gobble up!
