2014 Lucas Oil Off-Road Expo
Story by Chris Moore, Photos by Chris Moore and FOX The 2014 Lucas Oil Off-Road Expo was hotter then ever! With temps reaching 100+ degrees the off-road community came out in force, pouring into the event all weekend to take advantage of all the action! With over 10 acres of vendors, displays, and demos this event can be compared to Disney Land for gear heads.
The layout of the Pomona Fairplex offers a unique experience to the off-road enthusiast. From the Rubicon Jeep trails to the Mav TV Proving grounds there is sure to be something going on at all times. DragonFire Racing was offering fans a chance to go for a ride with their #ChooseYourRide challenge. A completely free raffle style drawing would select multiple people throughout the day to go for a few hot laps on the Mav TV proving grounds. Fans could choose from the RZR XP 1000 or the Maverick 1000 both decked out in DragonFire products and choose which vehicle they liked best. Not only a lot of fun but also allowing for a first timer UTV driver to get a sample of what these vehicles are capable of. Being primarily an outdoor show the vendor displays were larger then life! FOX had a seemingly endless display with everything from Pro racecars to completely custom build cars like the UTV Guide Turbocharged Arctic Cat Wildcat 1000. Meanwhile the deals were flying off the shelf as companies like Pro Armor and Rugged Radios were offering amazing shows specials for those who are gearing up for the southwest-riding season. Perhaps one of the coolest parts of the off-road expo was that nearly every vendor had some sort of giveaway or swag items for attendees showing their appreciation for the fans that make our sport possible. The legends and icons of the sport where there all weekend from short courses Brian Deegan & Jeremy McGrath to Ivan Iron Man Stewart signing autographs and taking photos allowing fans to meet their heros and go home with something special. All in all the heat did not deter the action and Family Events put on an amazing show showing that not only is off-road alive and well but growing! If you missed the show this year you definitely want to mark your calendars for next year. With fun for the whole family, Off-Road Expo takes the look but dont touch theory and throws it out the window. I truly believe that the hands on, live action of Off-Road Expo is the wave of the future and you can expect next year to only get bigger and better!
