This was my sixth year attending DuneFest after unfortunately missing the event in 2015. DuneFest is held in the Winchester Bay Dunes which are part of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area and this year, Can-Am stepped up as the presenting sponsor. DuneFest is organized by the Reedsport/Winchester Bay Chamber of Commerce and the Sand Camping/Staging facilities which are on National Forest Lands is authorized by a special use permit from the Siuslaw National Forest. The entire dunes at Winchester Bay are set aside for DuneFest from Wednesday to Sunday. To get into the dunes and the DuneFest event, you need an wrist band.
As usual, there was plenty of activities to watch or participate in including drag races, ATV, motorcycle and UTV acing, poker run, barrel racing, Show & Shine, Freestyle show, lighted night ride, just to name a few. Throughout the day, vendors and local restaurants were ready to keep you going with food that was definitely not low calorie but hit the spot. DuneFest 2016 Movie Night at the Pepsi Main Stage was Star Wars- The Force Awakens. Saturday night was the Live Auction and Friday and Saturday nights there was Live Music. Yamaha had their demo fleet of YXZ1000R SxS’s, and if you got tired of all of that, there were always dunes calling you to go ride! Yamaha Demo Fleet – YXZ1000R and YXZ1000R SS
