Pro Armor RZR XP 1000 Canvas and Aluminum Roofs

Polaris RZR XP 1000 Canvas Roof

Pro Armor expanded its accessory lineup for the original Polaris RZR XP 1000 in 2014 with two distinctly different roof options. Buyers could choose a flexible canvas roof with integrated storage or a formed aluminum roof designed to provide more substantial overhead protection.

This article covers products introduced for the original-generation RZR XP 1000. Current availability and vehicle compatibility may differ, so confirm the part number and fitment before purchasing.

Pro Armor RZR XP 1000 Canvas Roof

The Pro Armor canvas roof provided shade and weather coverage without adding the weight or rigidity of a metal roof. Its heavy-duty fabric was UV protected and water repellent, while an extended rear section helped direct runoff behind the occupants.

Pro Armor incorporated a zippered storage compartment into the underside of the roof. A front zipper mounting system reduced the amount of loose material exposed to the wind, helping limit fabric movement at speed.

Cutouts along the front allowed owners to retain compatible mirrors, overhead accessories and the original Polaris plastic visor. The roof attached without tools and was promoted as trailerable when installed correctly.

Canvas Roof Features

  • UV-protected and water-repellent fabric
  • Heavy-duty denier canvas construction
  • Integrated overhead zippered storage compartment
  • Front zipper mounting system to reduce fabric movement
  • Extended rear coverage to help direct water away from occupants
  • Cutouts for mirrors and compatible overhead accessories
  • Tool-free installation
  • Trailerable design

Pro Armor RZR XP 1000 Aluminum Roof

The aluminum option offered a more rigid alternative for RZR XP 1000 owners. Pro Armor formed the roof from 0.080-inch aluminum and designed it to bolt directly to the stock roll cage without welding additional tabs or brackets.

A drip rail across the front helped prevent water from running into the cockpit, while tapered sides directed runoff away from the occupants. The rear incorporated a wing-style profile with cutouts that gave the roof a more aggressive appearance.

The aluminum roof was originally offered in brushed aluminum and black powder-coated finishes.

Aluminum Roof Features

  • 0.080-inch aluminum construction
  • Integrated front drip rail
  • CAD-designed profile
  • Tapered sides to manage water runoff
  • Rear wing-style design with cutouts
  • Direct attachment to the stock cage
  • No welded mounting tabs or additional brackets required
  • Brushed aluminum or black powder-coated finish

Canvas Versus Aluminum

The canvas roof emphasized low weight, easy removal and useful overhead storage. The aluminum roof provided a rigid structure, a formed drip rail and a more permanent installation. Both were intended to add sun and weather protection to the stock-cage RZR XP 1000.

Because Polaris has produced several generations of the XP 1000 since this announcement, owners should verify the model year, cage configuration and manufacturer part number before ordering a roof originally designed for the 2014-era platform.
