Polaris Industries expanded its presence in the UTV aftermarket on November 12, 2014, by acquiring key assets connected with the Pro Armor brand. The deal brought one of the performance side-by-side industry’s better-known accessory companies into Polaris’ growing parts, garments and accessories business.
The transaction involved certain assets of LSI Products Inc. and Armor Holdings, LLC, two privately held companies based in Riverside, California. Those businesses designed, developed, manufactured and distributed accessories under the Pro Armor name.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Why Polaris Acquired Pro Armor
By 2014, accessories had become an increasingly important part of the powersports business. The rapid growth of the performance UTV market created strong demand for doors, seats, roofs, bumpers, harnesses, wheels and other components owners could use to personalize or protect their vehicles.
Pro Armor was already well established in that market. Founded in 1995, the company had built its reputation through UTV and ATV products influenced by racing, recreation and the Southern California off-road community.
The acquisition gave Polaris another recognized aftermarket brand while expanding its ability to reach customers beyond the accessories sold directly under the Polaris name.
“The acquisition of Pro Armor adds another industry-leading brand to our growing stable of PG&A aftermarket brands, a key contributor to Polaris’ growth and profitability,” said Steve Eastman, then vice president of parts, garments and accessories for Polaris.
Eastman said Pro Armor’s experience with performance accessories would help Polaris extend its reach within the side-by-side and ATV markets.
Pro Armor Continued as a Distinct Brand
Polaris did not immediately absorb Pro Armor into its factory-accessory identity. At the time of the acquisition, the companies said Pro Armor would continue operating as a distinct brand from its Riverside location.
Pro Armor and Polaris also planned to maintain separate product-development programs while sharing selected development, sourcing and distribution capabilities. That structure allowed Pro Armor to preserve its aftermarket identity and continue developing products for vehicles from multiple manufacturers.
The arrangement was important because Pro Armor’s business was not limited to Polaris machines. The company had established a broader customer base by offering accessories for numerous UTV and ATV platforms.
How the Polaris–Pro Armor Relationship Evolved
The long-term importance of the acquisition became clearer as Pro Armor components appeared more frequently alongside Polaris vehicles. The brand continued offering aftermarket seats, doors, protection, wheels, tires and accessories while also contributing to factory-backed Polaris projects.
One of the most visible examples arrived a decade after the acquisition. The limited-production 2025 Polaris RZR Pro R Factory-Armored Edition incorporated Pro Armor bumpers, skid protection and flow-formed beadlock wheels into a factory-custom RZR package.
Pro Armor tires have also appeared as original equipment on later Polaris models, demonstrating how the relationship developed beyond simply placing another aftermarket company in the Polaris portfolio.
What Pro Armor Makes
Pro Armor’s product lineup has expanded substantially since the 2014 transaction. Depending on the vehicle and application, its UTV products have included:
- Seats and multi-point harnesses
- Doors and door accessories
- Front and rear bumpers
- Skid plates and rock sliders
- Roofs and storage products
- Steering wheels and interior accessories
- Wheels and beadlock wheels
- UTV tires
- Lighting and mounting solutions
The company continues to support Polaris vehicles as well as selected platforms from other powersports manufacturers. Current products and fitment information are available through the Pro Armor website.
A Significant Polaris Aftermarket Acquisition
The Pro Armor purchase was part of a broader period in which Polaris invested in specialized companies with established products, customers and industry identities. Rather than relying exclusively on accessories developed under its own vehicle brands, Polaris assembled a portfolio that could participate in multiple parts of the powersports market.
For UTV owners, the lasting significance of the 2014 acquisition is visible in Pro Armor’s continued aftermarket presence and its closer integration with modern Polaris vehicles. What began as the purchase of selected accessory-business assets ultimately gave Polaris an established performance brand that could operate in both the independent aftermarket and factory-backed UTV programs.
