The KYMCO UXV 500 was an early value-focused utility UTV built for property maintenance, job-site use, hunting and recreational trail riding. Its combination of a 498.5cc single-cylinder engine, selectable four-wheel drive, independent suspension and useful cargo capacity made it a practical alternative in the midsize utility side-by-side market.
This page preserves specifications, trim information, detail photos and promotional videos from the original UXV 500.
KYMCO UXV 500 Overview
The UXV 500 used a liquid-cooled, four-stroke engine related to the powerplant found in KYMCO’s MXU 500 ATV. Power was delivered through an automatic continuously variable transmission with high, low, neutral and reverse ranges.
The drivetrain included shaft drive, selectable two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive, plus a differential lock for low-traction conditions. Fully independent front and rear suspension helped the machine handle uneven trails and work around farms or rural properties.
Period KYMCO literature listed slightly different horsepower figures depending on the model year and document. The archived specifications associated with this page rate the 498.5cc engine at 33 horsepower, while other period descriptions listed approximately 34.7 to 36 horsepower.
