JRi Shocks introduced the ECX-1 as a premium, rebuildable 2.5-inch shock absorber for the growing high-performance UTV market. Its defining feature was a compression adjuster incorporated into the shock shaft rather than a conventional crossover-style arrangement.
According to JRi, moving the compression-adjustment circuit to the shaft allowed it to respond to the same fluid velocities and volumes encountered by the main piston. The company said this produced faster response and gave drivers greater control when fine-tuning compression damping for dunes, desert terrain, woods and racing.
JRi ECX-1 UTV Shock Features
JRi listed the following features when the ECX-1 was released:

- Shaft-mounted compression adjustment
- Wide compression-damping adjustment range
- Rebuildable and serviceable design
- Individual dynamometer testing

JRi also stated that the ECX-1 could be upgraded to the ECX-3 configuration, which added separate high- and low-speed compression adjustment along with rebound adjustment. Availability of upgrades, replacement components and service support should now be confirmed directly with JRi Shocks.
