The 2024 Kawasaki MULE lineup covered several very different utility side-by-sides, but this particular model release focused on the compact MULE SX and traditional MULE 4010 families.
Nine configurations were offered, ranging from the two-wheel-drive MULE SX to the convertible MULE 4010 Trans4x4 Fleet Edition. Original base prices started at $8,199 and reached $13,499.
These machines occupied the more traditional, work-focused end of Kawasaki’s lineup. Buyers looking for larger engines, independent rear suspension or greater towing capacity could step up to one of the MULE PRO models.

2024 Kawasaki MULE SX 4×4
2024 Kawasaki MULE SX
The MULE SX was Kawasaki’s smallest and least expensive utility side-by-side for 2024. Its compact footprint made it useful around barns, landscaping projects, industrial facilities and other places where a full-size utility UTV could be cumbersome.
Every MULE SX carried two occupants and used a 401cc four-stroke single-cylinder engine connected to a continuously variable transmission. The rear steel cargo bed was rated to carry 400 pounds, while maximum towing capacity was 1,100 pounds.
The entry-level MULE SX used two-wheel drive. All four-wheel-drive versions received digital fuel injection, eliminating the carburetor found on some earlier compact MULE configurations.
MULE SX 4×4
The MULE SX 4×4 added selectable four-wheel drive and fuel injection while retaining the compact dimensions and work-focused equipment of the base model.
This was the straightforward choice for buyers who needed additional traction without the larger tires, styling upgrades or added equipment included with the XC, LE and Fleet Edition versions.
MULE SX 4×4 XC
The XC moved the MULE SX in a slightly more recreation-friendly direction. Its 26-inch tires provided additional ground clearance and gave the machine a more substantial stance than the standard MULE SX 4×4.
It retained the same 401cc engine, two-person capacity, 400-pound cargo-bed rating and 1,100-pound towing capacity.
MULE SX 4×4 XC LE
The XC LE was the premium compact MULE for 2024. It combined the XC platform and 26-inch tires with Metallic Onyx Black bodywork and additional appearance and convenience equipment.
At $10,799, it was the most expensive MULE SX in the 2024 lineup.

The MULE 4010 was larger and more capable than the MULE SX but retained a deliberately simple, low-speed utility design.
Power came from a 617cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected V-twin engine. The selectable four-wheel-drive system included a dual-mode rear differential, allowing the operator to lock it for traction or unlock it to reduce turf damage and make tighter turns.
The fixed-cab MULE 4010 4×4 carried two occupants. Its tilting steel cargo bed could handle as much as 800 pounds, while maximum towing capacity was 1,200 pounds.
With limited suspension travel and an emphasis on controlled low-speed operation, the MULE 4010 was better suited to farms, ranches, maintenance crews and job sites than aggressive recreational trail riding.

The MULE 4010 Trans4x4 used Kawasaki’s Trans Cab system to convert between two configurations without tools.
In its two-row arrangement, the machine could carry as many as four occupants. Folding the rear seat forward created a single-row cab and extended the cargo bed, trading passenger capacity for additional hauling space.
That versatility made the Trans4x4 useful for owners who sometimes needed a crew vehicle but did not want to permanently sacrifice cargo-bed capacity.
Both the standard MULE 4010 Trans4x4 and Fleet Edition used the same 617cc V-twin engine and selectable four-wheel-drive system as the fixed-cab MULE 4010.
What Was Included With the Fleet Editions?
Kawasaki offered three Fleet Edition models for 2024:
- MULE SX 4×4 FE
- MULE 4010 4×4 FE
- MULE 4010 Trans4x4 FE
These versions were configured for commercial, industrial and government-fleet use. Standard Fleet Edition equipment included:
- Bright White bodywork suitable for company identification or logos
- Plastic roof
- High-visibility orange seat belts
- Horn
- Universal key
The universal-key arrangement could simplify vehicle management for businesses operating multiple Kawasaki MULEs. Factory-installed fleet equipment also reduced the number of modifications needed before putting the vehicles into service.

The MULE SX was the better fit for buyers prioritizing maneuverability, simple transportation and a lower purchase price. The MULE 4010 provided more engine displacement, a larger cargo bed and, in Trans4x4 form, the ability to carry four people.
Neither family was designed to match the speed, suspension performance or 2,000-pound towing capacity available from the larger MULE PRO platforms.
A Traditional Work-First MULE Lineup
The 2024 MULE SX and MULE 4010 models continued Kawasaki’s traditional utility-vehicle formula: modest speed, durable cargo beds, manageable dimensions and an emphasis on day-to-day work.
The MULE SX addressed compact-property and light-duty needs, while the MULE 4010 added hauling capacity and the option of Kawasaki’s convertible Trans Cab system. Fleet Editions gave commercial operators factory-equipped alternatives with high-visibility safety equipment and shared keys.
All nine models were backed by Kawasaki’s three-year limited warranty.
