2019 SxS Adventure Rally

Sand Hollow State Park

By Jon Crowley

The HCR SxS Adventure Rally presented by D&P Performance was held at Sand Hollow State Park on November 7-9, 2019. The Side x Side Adventure Rally at Sand Hollow is a family friendly event with guided trail rides, primarily rock crawling with some less technical scenic rides in and around Sand Hollow State Park in Hurricane, Utah.

I make sure this annual event is always on my calendar.  It is a great event at an awesome location with great vendors and even the opportunity to demo new sports UTVs from manufacturers like Can-Am, Honda and Yamaha.

Our coverage for this year’s SxS Adventure Rally was sponsored by Wheel Pros Powersports, your one stop shop for SxS wheels and tires.

Day One:

I had the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a Kawasaki Teryx KRX 1000, and I hit up West Rim and Double Sammy with Lanse from Rally on the Rocks. We had a great time on these trails and were both very impressed with how well the KRX1000 does in the rocks.

Kawasaki Teryx KRX 1000Kawasaki Teryx KRX 1000 ReviewKawasaki invited a few media outlets out to beautiful Moab Utah for a more thorough test drive of the KRX 1000.  On day one we hit Seven Mile Rim which is more of a fast paced ride with some whoops and g-outs, with just a little bit of rock crawling mixed in. On day two, we did Poison Spider with a bit of Golden Spike and Where Eagles Dare with much more rock crawling and just a few high speed sections.

Day Two:

On day two, I jumped in as passenger with Reid from Walker Evans Racing.  Chad Hughes lead our small group on the Maze in his Can-Am Maverick Sport RC, and Dean from D&P Performance jumped in as well in his Can-Am Maverick X3 RC.

Day Three:

On day three, I once again jumped in with Reid to the trailhead of Double Sammy, then I was on foot filming with HCR Racing, D&P Performance, Walker Evans Racing and HCT.
