Yamaha introduced the EF2200iS portable inverter generator in January 2019 with RV camping and portable power in mind. Its 2,200-watt figure is maximum output; Yamaha lists 1,800 watts as continuous rated AC output.
EF2200iS Specifications
Yamaha’s U.S. specification page lists the following figures. These are manufacturer ratings, not measurements from a UTVGuide generator test.
| Specification | Details |
|---|---|
| Maximum AC output | 2,200 watts |
| Continuous rated AC output | 1,800 watts |
| Engine | 79cc OHV air-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke |
| Dry weight | 55.2 lb |
| Fuel tank | 1.24 US gallons |
| Runtime | 10.5 hours at one-quarter rated load |
| Noise | 57–65 dBA from one-quarter to rated load |
| DC output | 3 amps at 12 volts |
Maximum Versus Running Power
The 2,200-watt maximum rating should not be used as a continuous appliance allowance. Add the running loads that will operate together and allow for starting demand, especially for motor-driven equipment. The original 18.3-amp maximum figure at 120 volts corresponds to maximum output, not continuous capacity.
An RV-style receptacle does not mean a single unit can supply 30 amps continuously or start every RV air conditioner. Check the appliance’s actual requirements, starting characteristics and operating conditions against Yamaha’s guidance before selecting a generator.
Runtime, Fuel and Noise Conditions
The 10.5-hour runtime applies at one-quarter rated load, not full output. Actual duration depends on demand and conditions. The 57–65 dBA range covers one-quarter through rated load; both ends should not be labeled quarter-load measurements.
Yamaha’s Smart Throttle adjusts engine speed to electrical demand. A fuel gauge and illuminated control panel help monitor operation, while the Smart Dial combines controls. The three-handle layout helps with moving the generator; the published 55.2-pound dry weight excludes fuel and operating fluids.
Twin Tech Parallel Operation
Twin Tech permits compatible units to be connected using the specified Yamaha parallel equipment. Verify the permitted model pairing, cable and connection procedure in the manuals. Do not improvise a connection or assume any two inverter generators can share output.
The Overload Power Reset feature allows output to be restored after an overload is addressed without restarting the engine. Remove or reduce the excess load and follow the manual’s reset procedure.
Camping Use and Owner Information
Operate the generator outdoors where exhaust cannot enter occupied spaces, away from doors, windows and vents. Never run it inside a toy hauler, RV, garage or enclosed trailer. Follow Yamaha’s placement, fueling, electrical and maintenance instructions.
The 2019 announcement quoted a three-year factory warranty; Yamaha’s U.S. specification page describes a three-year limited warranty. Check the applicable terms for the actual unit and use. This introduction does not establish a measured full-load runtime, acoustic test result or guaranteed RV air-conditioner compatibility.
