Sand Mountain Recreation Area, located in western Nevada about 25 miles east of Fallon along U.S. Highway 50, is a popular off-road destination known for its massive sand dune that rises over 600 feet and stretches approximately two miles long. This unique natural formation attracts off-road enthusiasts, campers, and sandboarding adventurers year-round. The area is managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and is renowned for its open access to sand dune riding, making it a hotspot for ATVs, dirt bikes, dune buggies, and UTVs.
Priceless Moment:

BLM Trail System:
The trail system out at Sand Mountain is ridiculous and ugly. It is really a shame that a few environmentists and the BLM can ruin so much of this beautiful riding area. Tickets can now be issued for riding out of bounds.
