Shock Therapy’s Ultimate Tie Rod Kit pairs stronger steering components with an adjustable Bump Steer Delete (BSD) pin kit. Introduced in 2022 for select Polaris RZR and GENERAL models and the Kawasaki Teryx KRX 1000, the design addresses both tie rod durability and the steering geometry that determines bump steer.
Why Tie Rod Geometry Matters
A heavy-duty tie rod may resist bending, but strength alone does not correct bump steer. Bump steer is a change in toe as the suspension moves through its travel, even when the driver holds the steering wheel steady. If the tie rod’s pivot points do not follow the suspension’s movement closely enough, the front tires steer inward or outward over bumps and through droop. The result can be unwanted steering feedback and a less predictable feel.
Shock Therapy’s approach combines a reinforced tie rod and inner joint with an adjustable outer mounting point. The BSD pin kit uses spacers to set the height of the outer rod end at the spindle. That adjustment lets the installer tune the tie rod’s operating angle for the vehicle’s geometry. The goal is to minimize bump steer across the suspension’s travel; the result depends on the vehicle, setup, and correct installation.

What Is in the Ultimate Tie Rod Kit?
The original kit was built around these components and materials:
- 7075 billet aluminum tie rods: Precision machined and hard anodized for strength and durability.
- BSD pin kit: Height-adjustable hardware at the spindle to tune the outer joint position and reduce bump steer.
- Heavy-duty inner joint: A heat-treated 4340 steel design that retains the factory steering geometry. Shock Therapy says it is 20 percent larger at a factory weak point on the applications covered by this kit.
- 5/8-inch rod ends: Chromoly, Teflon-lined rod ends replace the factory-style outer joint.
The inner joint matters as much as the visible tie rod. Moving its pivot point can change steering behavior, so Shock Therapy designed this kit to reinforce that connection while maintaining the factory pivot geometry on the specified applications.

Fitment: Check the Exact Vehicle
The original 2022 announcement listed the Polaris RZR XP 900, XP 1000, XP Turbo, Turbo S, Pro XP and RS1, the Polaris GENERAL XP, and the Kawasaki Teryx KRX 1000. Shock Therapy’s current catalog also lists versions for additional vehicles, including the XPEDITION, but parts and hardware vary by model. Select the exact year and trim before ordering, and confirm whether the option includes the BSD pin kit and matches the factory or aftermarket steering rack.
See Shock Therapy’s current tie rod catalog and its Polaris Ultimate Tie Rod Kit for fitment and kit options. The RZR Pro R and Turbo R tie rod kit has a different inner-joint design and is covered separately.

Shock Therapy explains the original Polaris and Kawasaki kit in this video:
After installation, verify steering clearance through full suspension travel, set the toe, and follow the manufacturer’s model-specific directions for BSD spacer placement and fastener torque. Those steps are necessary to realize the geometry benefits of an adjustable kit.
