RIGID D-SS Dually Side Shooter: Wider Light for UTV Corners

When a UTV turns into a dark corner, a forward-facing light can leave the inside of the bend in shadow. RIGID Industries introduced the D-SS Dually Side Shooter in 2016 to spread light farther to the sides while retaining the compact D-Series-style pod.

The original D-SS combined forward-facing LEDs with additional LEDs aimed sideways. RIGID described up to 120 degrees of horizontal coverage. The forward optics were offered in Spot, Flood and Driving patterns, allowing owners to choose the main beam for their riding conditions.

How the D-SS Side Shooter was configured

In paired configurations, each pod had three side-shooting LEDs on its outward-facing side. The single-light version placed two side-shooting LEDs on each side of the fixture. The design made the D-SS an option for A-pillar or other forward mounting locations where a rider wanted more light toward the edge of the trail. Mounting position and aim still matter: wide coverage cannot reveal an obstacle around a completely blind bend.

Current D-SS models

This article covers the original 2016 introduction. RIGID now lists the D-SS PRO Driving pair and D-SS PRO Spot pair, which use updated LEDs. Check the current product listing for the beam pattern, electrical requirements and included hardware before ordering; the PRO specifications should not be applied retroactively to the original D-SS.
