When Rugged Radios introduced the RRP660 PLUS in 2016, it added Bluetooth music and phone connectivity to its RRP660 in-vehicle intercom. The system let UTV occupants talk through connected headsets or helmet kits while sharing music from a paired phone or other Bluetooth device.
What the RRP660 PLUS added
The RRP660 PLUS paired wireless audio with the intercom’s voice-activated communication. When someone spoke, the system lowered the music so the crew could hear the conversation, then restored the music afterward. Rugged described it as a two- to four-person system expandable to as many as eight occupants with the appropriate connections.
Front-panel controls included a music play/pause button and a music/cell switch for answering a paired phone. Rugged also specified two inline external USB charging ports. The RF-shielded housing worked with Rugged’s UTV-specific mounts and universal faceplates, making the intercom suitable for a range of dash installations.

Where it fits in Rugged’s intercom history
The RRP660 PLUS helped establish Bluetooth music and passenger conversation as part of a UTV communication setup. UTV Guide later covered the RRP696 intercom with expanded music controls, which Rugged introduced as a development of the RRP660 PLUS. The RRP660 PLUS also appeared in the Rugged General build and our Can-Am Maverick X3 build.
