The 2010 Polaris RANGER 800 HD combined the upgraded 760cc twin-cylinder EFI engine with the specialized work features introduced on the original RANGER HD. More Power for the 2010 RANGER HD
Polaris expanded use of its 760cc twin-cylinder EFI engine across much of the 2010 RANGER lineup. The engine was installed in the RANGER 800 HD as well as the RANGER 800 XP, RANGER 800 CREW and RANGER 800 6×6.
The liquid-cooled engine produced a claimed 40 horsepower and was paired with Polaris’ automatic PVT transmission. On-Demand True AWD, two-wheel drive and VersaTrac Turf Mode allowed the driver to select the appropriate drive setting for trails, hauling or working around sensitive ground.
Self-Leveling Rear Suspension
The RANGER HD used adjustable dual A-arm front suspension and an independent rear suspension fitted with Nivomat self-leveling shocks. As weight was added to the cargo bed, the shocks automatically adjusted to help restore the vehicle’s ride height.
This system helped preserve loaded ground clearance while reducing the need for unusually stiff rear springs. Polaris designed it to provide a smoother unloaded ride while still supporting demanding hauling jobs.
Variable-Assist Power Steering
Electronic power steering was standard equipment on the RANGER HD. The variable-assist system provided greater assistance at low speeds while reducing steering assistance as vehicle speed increased. It also helped isolate the steering wheel from impacts and feedback encountered on rough terrain.
BOSS Lift & Carry System
The RANGER HD was compatible with the BOSS Lift & Carry System, a front-mounted hydraulic attachment system rated to lift and carry as much as 500 pounds. Combined with power steering, it expanded the RANGER HD’s usefulness for snow removal, material handling and property maintenance.
