The 2014 Polaris RANGER lineup introduced three important utility side-by-sides: the full-size RANGER CREW 900, midsize RANGER 570 EFI and four-seat RANGER CREW 570 EFI. The new models expanded the ProStar-powered RANGER family with additional sizes and passenger configurations while improving power, comfort and work capability.
The 2014 lineup followed the introduction of the Polaris RANGER XP 900 for model year 2013. That redesigned three-passenger platform established the foundation for the larger RANGER CREW 900.
What Was New for the 2014 Polaris RANGER Lineup?
Polaris expanded both its full-size and midsize utility UTV families for 2014. The three major additions were:
- RANGER CREW 900: A five-passenger, full-size utility UTV powered by the 60-horsepower ProStar 900 engine.
- RANGER 570 EFI: A two-passenger midsize RANGER with a 40-horsepower ProStar 570 engine.
- RANGER CREW 570 EFI: A four-passenger version of the midsize RANGER 570 platform.
| 2014 RANGER model | Seating | Power | Cargo-box capacity | Towing capacity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| RANGER CREW 900 | 5 | 60 hp | 1,000 lb. | 2,000 lb. |
| RANGER 570 EFI | 2 | 40 hp | 500 lb. | 1,250 lb. |
| RANGER CREW 570 EFI | 4 | 40 hp | 500 lb. | 1,250 lb. |
2014 Polaris RANGER CREW 900

The 2014 Polaris RANGER CREW 900 brought the ProStar 900 powertrain and redesigned full-size RANGER platform to a multi-passenger machine. Its 60-horsepower engine represented a 50-percent increase over the preceding RANGER CREW 800 EFI.
Moving the engine beneath the rear cargo box helped reduce noise and heat around the passengers. The cargo box could carry up to 1,000 pounds and was wide enough to accept a pallet. It also included additional tie-down points, provisions for removable dividers and compatibility with Polaris Lock & Ride accessories.
2,000-Pound Towing Capacity
The RANGER CREW 900 could tow up to 2,000 pounds, making it the most capable multi-passenger model in the 2014 RANGER family. A higher-capacity battery and upgraded stator supplied 30 percent more electrical output than the CREW 800 EFI, allowing owners to operate additional work accessories.
Redesigned Five-Passenger Cab
Polaris redesigned the cockpit to accommodate five occupants more comfortably. Updates included additional storage, a center console, cupholders and standard tilt steering. Limited Edition models also received an adjustable driver’s seat.
The new restraint system included a shoulder belt for the rear center passenger. Storage was available in the dashboard and beneath both rows of seats.
PRO-FIT Cab System
The RANGER CREW 900 used profiled cab-frame tubing that provided a continuous sealing surface for available PRO-FIT cab components. Roofs, windshields, doors and rear panels followed the contours of the frame, creating a more integrated enclosure than conventional add-on cab pieces.
Many PRO-FIT components incorporated Lock & Ride attachment hardware for easier installation and removal. Polaris claimed the enclosed cab was 60 percent quieter at idle and 40 percent quieter at 20 mph than the previous cab design.
Chassis and Maintenance Updates
The CREW 900 received a longer, more rigid chassis designed to improve handling and reduce vibration. Compared with the CREW 800, it had five inches more wheelbase, an additional inch of rear suspension travel and 11.3 inches of ground clearance.
The wet-sump engine was accessible from beneath the cargo box and had a recommended 100-hour service interval. Other maintenance-focused details included accessible oil-check and fill points, common metric fasteners and grease fittings that allowed owners to flush suspension joints.
A driver-side filler provided access to the 10-gallon fuel tank, which was 11 percent larger than the tank used on the previous model.
The RANGER CREW 900 was offered in Sage Green, Solar Red and Polaris Pursuit Camo. Limited Edition choices included Sunset Red and Titanium Matte Metallic. Electronic Power Steering was standard on the camo and Limited Edition models.
2014 Polaris RANGER 570 EFI

The 2014 Polaris RANGER 570 EFI replaced the earlier 500-class powertrain with a liquid-cooled, single-cylinder ProStar 570 engine producing 40 horsepower. That represented a claimed 25-percent increase over the previous midsize model.
The 567cc engine used dual overhead camshafts, four valves and electronic fuel injection. Polaris had originally introduced this basic engine architecture in the RZR 570 before adapting it to the work-focused RANGER platform.
Moving the engine behind the seats helped reduce cab noise. Polaris also fitted a revised transmission for smoother shifting and a larger stator that supplied 29 percent more electrical power for accessories.
RANGER 570 Work Capability
- 500-pound cargo-box capacity
- 1,000-pound payload capacity
- 1,250-pound towing capacity
- On-Demand True All-Wheel Drive
- VersaTrac Turf Mode
- Independent rear suspension
- 10 inches of ground clearance
- Available Electronic Power Steering
The midsize chassis made the RANGER 570 easier to maneuver, transport and store than a full-size RANGER. It retained useful work capacities while providing a smaller footprint for tighter trails, barns and property-maintenance jobs.
The RANGER 570 was offered in Sage Green, Solar Red and Polaris Pursuit Camo. A Gold Mist Limited Edition added Electronic Power Steering.
2014 Polaris RANGER CREW 570 EFI

The RANGER CREW 570 EFI combined the new 40-horsepower ProStar 570 engine with a second seating row for a total of four occupants. It retained the midsize platform’s maneuverability while providing greater passenger capacity than the two-seat RANGER 570.
The CREW 570 carried up to 500 pounds in its cargo box and had a 1,250-pound payload rating and 1,250-pound towing capacity. Its drivetrain included On-Demand True All-Wheel Drive and VersaTrac Turf Mode, which unlocked the rear differential for tighter turns and reduced damage to grass.
Independent suspension, long wheel travel and generous ground clearance helped make the CREW 570 suitable for property work, hunting and recreational trail riding. Polaris also offered Lock & Ride accessories, cab components and snowplows for the platform.
The RANGER CREW 570 EFI was available in Sage Green, Solar Red and Polaris Pursuit Camo. A Burgundy Metallic Limited Edition included Electronic Power Steering.

Why the 2014 Polaris RANGER Lineup Mattered
The 2014 model year filled two important gaps in the RANGER family. The CREW 900 brought the redesigned XP 900 platform and ProStar power to buyers who needed additional passenger capacity, while the RANGER 570 and CREW 570 delivered substantially more power to Polaris’ smaller utility platform.
These machines also demonstrate how quickly utility side-by-sides were becoming more refined. Integrated cab systems, increased electrical capacity, quieter engine placement, power steering and improved passenger accommodations were becoming important selling points alongside traditional towing and cargo ratings.
The RANGER CREW 900 became an important step in the development of Polaris’ modern full-size multi-passenger utility vehicles. The RANGER 570 also developed into one of the company’s longest-running midsize platforms.
