Originally published November 22, 2013. HCR Racing introduced this OEM-width suspension system for the then-new Polaris RZR XP 1000. The kit was designed to strengthen the RZR’s suspension and increase ground clearance without converting the machine to a wider long-travel configuration.

OEM Width with Stronger Construction
The replacement kit followed the construction style and suspension geometry of HCR Racing’s XP 1000 long-travel system while retaining the vehicle’s factory width. That made it an option for owners who wanted stronger suspension components without adding the width associated with a long-travel conversion.
HCR constructed the arms from laser-cut material with CNC-machined 4130 chromoly mounting points. Each component was hand TIG-welded, and the system bolted to the RZR’s factory mounting locations.
The OEM-width design also allowed owners to continue using compatible stock or aftermarket shocks and axles rather than requiring the longer components associated with a full long-travel kit.

According to HCR Racing’s original announcement, the complete suspension package weighed less than 40 pounds more than the factory components.

Why the Kit Mattered
The original RZR XP 1000 quickly became a popular platform for desert, dune and rock builds. HCR’s replacement system addressed owners who wanted greater suspension strength and improved clearance while keeping the machine near its factory track width.
Unlike a long-travel conversion, the OEM-width system was intended to preserve the RZR’s basic footprint and factory suspension travel. Its boxed trailing arms and radius rods primarily improved durability and clearance rather than substantially changing the vehicle’s suspension geometry.
