Honda UTVs combine durable engineering with some of the most distinctive drivetrains in the side-by-side market. The company’s lineup is divided between the recreation and utility-focused Pioneer family and the performance-oriented Talon sport UTVs. Both emphasize Honda’s preference for geared automatic transmissions instead of conventional belt-driven CVTs.
The Honda Pioneer lineup extends from compact trail and property vehicles to full-size work, recreation and multi-passenger UTVs.
The 50-inch-wide Pioneer 520 is designed for tighter trails and smaller properties. The Pioneer 700 and Pioneer 700-4 occupy the midsize portion of the range, combining a 675cc single-cylinder engine with an automotive-style automatic transmission, a 1,000-pound cargo-bed capacity and 1,500-pound towing capacity. The Pioneer 700-4 adds two QuickFlip rear seats that can be folded into the cargo bed when they are not needed.

At the top of the range, the Honda Pioneer 1000 family combines a 999cc parallel-twin engine with Honda’s beltless six-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission. Current configurations include three- and five-passenger Deluxe models, the six-seat Pioneer 1000-6 Deluxe Crew and the premium Pioneer 1000 Elite.
Honda substantially redesigned the Pioneer 1000 for 2026 with throttle-by-wire, four selectable drive modes, cruise control, variable speed limiting and improved Electric Power Steering. The Pioneer 1000 Elite adds Honda’s first fully sealed factory cab with integrated heating and air conditioning. The Elite is currently a three-passenger model rather than a five-seat Pioneer 1000-5.

The Honda Talon brings the company’s beltless six-speed DCT to the sport side-by-side category. Drivers can let the transmission shift automatically or select gears manually with steering-column-mounted paddle shifters.
The Talon 1000X is configured for tighter, more technical terrain, while the wider Talon 1000R uses a longer wheelbase and more suspension travel for rough, higher-speed conditions. Two- and four-seat versions provide options for solo drivers, couples and families. FOX Live Valve models add electronically controlled suspension that continuously adjusts damping while driving.

Honda Talon is now available in both two- and four-seat models. Both share the same powerful, Talon-specific high-output engine, quick-shifting Automatic DCT Transmission, and exclusive I-4WD technology. The front differential on the Talon 1000 uses a system Honda calls I-4WD. When the system senses one wheel spinning, it automatically applies the brake in a pulsing mode to that side and pushes 4-times more power to the side that has traction. It is different than any other UTV, but Honda uses this technology for their on-road SUVs. The system is all automatic for the driver, so no buttons to push to activate.
