After a long 24+ Hour travel day, Casey and team arrived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for the beginning of the 2020 Dakar Rally. We’ll be here for the next 3 days before the start of the race.
South Racing Can-Am
All of the teams have arrived and got their final vehicle prep in. It’s amazing seeing all of the logistics come together to get everything here and ready on time. Our team has multiple support rigs, a fleet of RVs, 3 Can-Ams, and a couple transport vehicles.
Drivers and mechanics are making last minute tweaks to their cars before they head out to shakedown. Shakedown is the last time the cars will be driven before race day. The area they’ll be doing the the testing is about 27km outside of Jeddah. It’s a sweet little compound that sits on the edge of a set of dunes with dirt roads that cross cross each other. Perfect for testing.

We showed up to shakedown to a Can-Am held vip event. They had a couple 4 seater Mavericks setup for Casey and the other drivers to give ride alongs to 40 special guests. After a quick presentation the team started getting testing underway. In between sessions Casey gave ride alongs to the excited fans. Even Sean got in on the action taking people for ride alongs out in the dunes.
After the last changes were made the day ended with a BBQ dinner, Saudi Style.
