When Polaris introduced the GENERAL 4 1000 for 2017, it extended the GENERAL’s blend of trail performance and utility to a four-seat platform. The new model gave a driver and three passengers room for a full day of riding while retaining a dumping cargo bed for tools, supplies, or adventure gear.

Cargo Space for Work and Weekend Rides
The GENERAL 4’s deep, dumping rear bed was rated to carry up to 600 pounds. A single-latch tailgate made loading and unloading straightforward, while Lock & Ride integration allowed owners to add compatible Polaris accessories. That combination made the four-seat GENERAL useful for hauling gear to a campsite, carrying supplies around a property, or bringing equipment along on a trail ride.
Power and Suspension
Polaris rated the original GENERAL 4 1000 at 100 horsepower. At its introduction, the company promoted that output and the vehicle’s suspension travel as standout figures in the recreational utility segment. The result was a machine intended to carry four people and their gear without giving up the lively trail character that distinguished the two-seat GENERAL.

Seating and Interior Storage
Polaris designed the GENERAL 4 cabin around four individual bucket seats, with supportive bolsters and a wide seat base. The driver’s seat included a slider for adjusting the driving position. Rear-seat space was a particular focus of the launch, giving passengers room to settle in for longer rides.
The 48 liters of integrated interior storage provided places to keep smaller items close at hand, separate from the equipment carried in the rear bed.
The four-seat GENERAL was built to bring passengers and cargo along for a full day outdoors.
