Friends of Oceano Dunes

On March 25, the Friends of Oceano Dunes will host a BBQ Fundraiser event in Madera, CA. The proceeds from the event go to support Friends of Oceano Dunes’ ongoing legal efforts to preserve off- roading & camping at Oceano Dunes SVRA. Formerly known as the Pismo Dunes, Oceano Dunes SVRA is California’s only coastal area for beach camping, vehicle driving and OHV use. Friends has hosted their Madera BBQ fundraiser for many years. Madera and the Central Valley are home to many avid off-road enthusiasts who frequently enjoy the Oceano Dunes experience.

The Madera fundraiser will include a catered BBQ dinner, live auction, silent auction, raffles, the Tiki Bar, a dessert auction, and fun for the family. On display will be the group’s latest Sweepstakes vehicle. The 2022 Polaris RZR Turbo R 4 seater UTV was donated by Clawson Motorsports and Polaris to be given away to 1 lucky winner, while raising proceeds for Friends’ lawsuits.

Friends is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization that was founded in 2001 with the sole purpose to defend, preserve and fight for camping, off-roading, and ACCESS FOR ALL to the Oceano Dunes. The organization is run by volunteers, meaning all proceeds go to fund their legal challenges to save the Park. Friends is currently embroiled in 18 lawsuits, with an excellent track record and legal win rate in court. Back in March 2021, the California Coastal Commission voted to force the closure of the Oceano Dunes SVRA. Friends immediately filed 3 new lawsuits to stop the Park’s closure in 2024. The Madera BBQ is a great opportunity for the community to have a fun night in support of their work.
