Baja Designs expanded its OnX6 LED light bar family in 2017 with standard, Hi-Power and Racer Edition options. Each addressed a different need for UTV drivers, from broad trail visibility to long-distance lighting for fast desert travel. The output figures below describe the products announced at the time; Baja Designs now sells the updated OnX6+ lineup.
Original OnX6: Three Beam Choices
The standard OnX6 was built around a 10-inch, six-LED section that Baja Designs rated at 7,350 lumens in its 2017 announcement. Buyers could choose Driving/Combo, Wide Driving or High-Speed Spot optics. Driving/Combo mixed near and distant coverage; Wide Driving emphasized a broader view; and High-Speed Spot concentrated light farther down the trail.
The original construction included an anodized aluminum housing, a machined aluminum bezel, stainless steel mounting hardware and hard-coated polycarbonate lenses. Baja Designs also highlighted its replaceable lenses and optics, sealed assemblies and 5000K light color.
OnX6 Hi-Power: More Output per Section
The newly introduced Hi-Power version combined four 20-watt LEDs for near- and mid-field coverage with two 10-watt LEDs aimed farther ahead. Baja Designs claimed 11,650 lumens per 10-inch section at launch. The company listed 10-, 20-, 30- and 40-inch bars, making the same basic lighting approach available for different mounting spaces and coverage goals.
OnX6 Racer Edition: Distance at Speed
The Racer Edition focused its beam for long-range visibility in high-speed applications. According to the original announcement, Baja Designs narrowed the spot optic from 6 degrees to 4 degrees to extend reach. That made beam placement especially relevant for UTV racers and desert drivers who needed to see farther ahead.
Choosing an OnX6 Light Bar Today
This article documents the 2017 lineup. For a new installation, verify the specifications of the exact bar and mounting kit before comparing brightness numbers across generations. The current OnX6+ family includes multiple lengths and beam patterns, while Baja Designs also lists an OnX6 Racer Edition.
