Introduced in November 2016, the Textron Off Road Stampede XTR 4×4 expanded the original two-seat Stampede into a four-passenger utility side-by-side. It paired four forward-facing seats with an 80-hp engine, electric power steering and an extended cab designed to keep gear close at hand. The model was introduced during the transition from Bad Boy Off Road to Textron Off Road branding.
2016 Stampede XTR engine and drivetrain
The Stampede XTR used an 846cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine rated at 80 hp and 59 lb-ft of torque. It also featured selectable all-wheel drive and standard electronic power steering. Those figures are the manufacturer’s specifications from the original announcement, rather than results from a UTV Guide test of the XTR.
Four seats and extended-cab storage
The XTR’s distinguishing feature was its four forward-facing seats. Textron said the extended cab and additional space beneath the front seat provided a combined 30 cubic feet of storage, including six cubic feet of under-seat space. Its Fast-N-Latch system provided attachment points in the cargo bed for compatible accessories.
Suspension and equipment
Four-wheel double A-arm suspension provided a claimed 9.5 inches of front travel and 10.5 inches of rear travel. Textron also specified front and rear sway bars and 11.25 inches of ground clearance. Other announced features included a large LCD display and access openings for both seating rows.
Textron offered the Stampede XTR EPS and XTR EPS+. The EPS+ added alloy wheels, 27-inch Maxxis Bighorn 2.0 tires and color-accented seats; Electric Blue was among its color choices. At launch, suggested retail prices were $15,999 for the EPS and $16,799 for the EPS+. Textron announced a two-year warranty and said the vehicle was built in Augusta, Georgia. Where the Stampede XTR fits in Textron’s history
The XTR followed the two-seat Stampede introduced earlier in 2016. In 2017, the company consolidated Bad Boy Off Road vehicles under the Textron Off Road name.
