Following another UTV through a dusty wash can make its factory taillights hard to pick out. The XTC Power Products X-LITE Chase Light Bar puts several rear lighting functions into one compact housing, including an amber chase light intended to make the vehicle easier to spot from behind.
In a video walk-through, Chris from XTC demonstrates the red running lights, brake and turn-signal functions, and the center light’s white and amber modes. The center section can be off, shine white for reverse or cargo-area use, or operate as an amber dust light.
Five Rear Lighting Functions in One Bar
The X-LITE combines red running lights, independent left and right brake-light inputs that can also serve as turn signals, a white reverse light, and an amber chase light. The separate left and right inputs give an installer the option to integrate the bar with a compatible turn-signal system. The center white and amber modes are selectable alternatives, rather than two lights that operate together.
| Light mode | Power | XTC-listed output |
|---|---|---|
| Red running lights | 5.67 W | 188 lumens |
| Brake lights | 18.09 W | 599 lumens |
| Amber chase light | 7.96 W | 624 lumens |
| White reverse light | 7.85 W | 741 lumens |
The black aluminum housing and polycarbonate lenses keep the assembly compact. The amber mode is especially useful for a group ride in dust, where the driver behind needs a clear visual reference to the UTV ahead. As with any chase light, the driver still needs to leave enough distance to see and react safely.
Cage Mount or Flat Mount
Chris highlights the mounting design as a key feature. The included curved mounts secure the light behind a roll cage for a floating appearance without external tube clamps. The mounts can be removed so the light can sit against a suitable flat surface. In the demonstration, Chris points to a RZR Pro R and mentions RANGER and XPEDITION applications where a lower mounting position could work.
The universal light includes mounting hardware and a pigtailed wiring harness. XTC also sells separate plug-and-play vehicle wiring adapters that can simplify getting power and brake-light signals without cutting the factory taillight harness. The light’s pigtail still needs to be connected to the chosen harness and controls; the exact installation depends on the UTV and the functions being used. XTC’s light installation instructions cover flat and cage mounting.
Plug-and-Play Harness Options for Polaris and Can-Am
For the 2015–2018 RZR XP 1000/Turbo and 2016-and-newer RZR 900, XTC offers a rear chase light bar wiring harness with keyed power, ground, two brake-light wires, and three control wires. It plugs into the factory rear harness to obtain the brake signals.
For newer RZR applications, the Polaris RZR brake and tail-light accessory power harness plugs into an OE four-pin taillight connection. XTC specifies two adapters when separate left and right taillight signals are needed for a chase bar. Its fitment list includes RZR Pro R, Pro S, Pro XP, Turbo R, and certain Turbo S models; check the product page for the applicable model years.
XTC’s Can-Am Maverick rear chase light bar wiring harness takes keyed power and ground from the busbar, plugs into the factory rear taillight harness for brake signals, and provides three control wires to the dash. XTC lists Maverick X3 and Maverick R model years on that page, while its description specifically calls out a two-seat X3; confirm the configuration before ordering for another Maverick.
Already Seen on a Kawasaki RIDGE Crew Build
UTV Source installed an X-LITE Chase Light Bar at the rear of its CopperHead Kawasaki RIDGE Crew hunting build. That machine also uses XTC X-LITE marker lights around the bed rack and an XTC PCS-81 eight-switch power control system. The chase bar adds rear visibility to a build intended for backcountry travel and rides that can continue after dark.
The X-LITE Chase Light Bar is listed as SKU XLITE-CHASE-UNI at $299 on XTC’s website. See the XTC product page for the current price and installation details.
