SuperATV Rhino X300 axles are the company’s premium heavy-duty axle option for highly modified UTVs, oversized tires and riding conditions that place extreme torque and impact loads on the drivetrain. Introduced in 2019, the X300 remains part of SuperATV’s axle lineup and sits above the more broadly applicable Rhino 2.0.
Rather than relying only on a larger, stiffer shaft, the X300 uses 300M alloy steel and SuperATV’s Flexshaft technology. The shaft is engineered to twist under a sudden torque load and return to its original shape, helping absorb energy that would otherwise be directed into the CV joints, differential or transmission.
What Makes the Rhino X300 Different?
The X300 was developed for riders whose combinations of power, traction, tire diameter and aggressive terrain exceed the demands normally placed on a stock replacement axle. These are the kinds of builds used for rock bouncing, deep mud, competition or technical rock crawling with substantially larger-than-stock tires.
The axle shaft is constructed from 300M, a high-strength alloy steel used when both strength and toughness are required. SuperATV combines that shaft with CV components made from 300M and 4340 chromoly steel. The CV, spider and cage dimensions are maximized for strength and operating angle, while the joints are packed with high-temperature grease.
Its defining characteristic is controlled shaft flex. When the driveline experiences a sharp torque spike, the shaft can twist slightly instead of transferring the entire load immediately to the CVs and other drivetrain components. That does not make the rest of the drivetrain unbreakable, but it can help manage the shock loads created by hard landings, bound-up tires and abrupt traction changes.
Rhino X300 vs. Rhino 2.0 Axles
The Rhino X300 and Rhino 2.0 occupy different positions in SuperATV’s axle lineup.
SuperATV Rhino 2.0
Rhino 2.0 is the company’s more broadly applicable heavy-duty axle. It is designed as a stronger replacement for stock axles and is appropriate for trail riding, rock crawling, mud and moderately oversized tires.
- Primary use: General heavy-duty replacement or upgrade
- Shaft material: 4340 chromoly steel
- Design priority: A balance of strength, durability and value
- Typical applications: Trail riding, rocks, mud and larger tires
- Listed warranty: 18 months, subject to current warranty terms
SuperATV Rhino X300
Rhino X300 is the more specialized option for highly modified vehicles and riders who subject their drivetrains to severe torque and impact loads.
- Primary use: Extreme builds and high-impact riding
- Shaft material: 300M alloy steel
- Design priority: Maximum strength with controlled shaft flex
- Typical applications: Big lifts, very large tires, racing, rock bouncing and extreme mud builds
- Listed warranty: Three years, subject to current warranty terms
For many recreational UTVs, Rhino 2.0 axles provide the more practical upgrade. X300 becomes the stronger candidate when tire size, suspension changes, added horsepower or riding style repeatedly expose conventional heavy-duty axles to severe torque loads.
Designed for Large Tires and Modified UTVs
Larger tires increase the leverage applied to an axle and the rest of the drivetrain. Additional traction compounds the effect: when a tire is wedged against a rock or suddenly hooks up in mud, the torque generated at the axle can rise rapidly.
Suspension lifts and long-travel systems can also require axles designed for different lengths and operating angles. That makes correct fitment critical.
X300 axles are offered in stock-length and application-specific configurations for selected Polaris, Can-Am and other UTV platforms. Availability varies by model, year, suspension layout and whether the vehicle retains stock suspension or uses a lift or long-travel kit. Buyers should verify the exact vehicle and suspension configuration rather than selecting an axle based only on the model family.
SuperATV currently lists X300 applications for machines including several Polaris RZR, RANGER and GENERAL models as well as the Can-Am Maverick X3. Its catalog also includes replacement boots and CV components for servicing certain X300 axles.

Choosing the Right Heavy-Duty Axle
Axle selection should account for more than a claimed strength rating. Tire size, vehicle weight, engine output, gearing, suspension geometry and intended terrain all affect driveline loading.
Portals and gear reductions can reduce stress in some parts of the drivetrain while increasing the traction available at the tire, so the complete build should be considered as a system.
The X300 makes the most sense when axle strength is a recurring limitation or the vehicle is being assembled specifically for extreme use. A mostly stock trail machine may be better served by Rhino 2.0 axles, while a high-horsepower UTV on oversized tires may justify the X300’s more specialized construction.
SuperATV uses computer-aided design, in-house manufacturing and purpose-built test equipment to develop drivetrain and suspension products. Its broader product range includes GDP portal gear lifts, suspension systems and heavy-duty Polaris transmissions for builds that place greater loads on the complete driveline.
