PRP has assembled a range of upgrades for the Can-Am Maverick R, from suspension seats and harnesses to steering wheels, storage and equipment for securing the UTV on a trailer. Its latest Can-Am product roundup is a useful starting point, but Maverick R owners should select the parts that fit their specific seating and cockpit setup. Here are the options worth a closer look.
PRP suspension seats and Maverick R seat mounts
The biggest cockpit change is a pair of suspension seats. PRP offers GT3 suspension seats packaged with front mounts and sliders for the Maverick R and R MAX. The GT3 has medium-height side bolsters, harness openings and a removable bottom cushion with a fifth-point slot. PRP also lists GT/S.E. and XCR front-seat kits. Check the shape and containment of each seat against how you use the vehicle and how often you climb in and out.
The mounts are an important part of this decision. PRP’s seat mount and slider kit for PRP seats replaces the factory rails and provides height and position adjustment. If you want to keep the original seats, PRP sells a different mount and slider kit for the stock front seats. PRP says the stock-seat kit is not compatible with stock belts, so confirm the complete seat-and-restraint setup before ordering.
Four- and five-point harnesses
PRP’s harness lineup includes four- and five-point options in different buckle and pad configurations. A fifth-point harness calls for an appropriate seat opening and attachment point. Match the harness to the seat, use the correct mounting hardware and follow PRP’s instructions for routing and installation. If the Maverick R will be used in competition, check the event’s current restraint rules as well.
Steering wheel and hub
A steering wheel changes a touchpoint you use throughout every ride. PRP sells several wheel shapes and materials, and its fixed UTV steering-wheel adapter hub lists Maverick R fitment. Verify the wheel’s bolt pattern and the hub combination before ordering; a quick-release kit advertised for the Maverick X3 should not automatically be assumed to fit the Maverick R.
Storage for the cab and bed
PRP’s Maverick R upper door bags add pockets within the factory doors for small trail items. Its Maverick R bed bag provides another place to organize gear. Both are listed specifically for the Maverick R; PRP’s X3 door and dash bags are separate products.
SpeedStrap tie-downs for the trip to the trail
PRP also offers SpeedStrap UTV tie-downs, including tire-bonnet and wheel-lasso arrangements. Its 1.5-inch UTV wheel lasso lists the Maverick R among its recommended vehicle applications. In our guide to transporting a UTV, we compare three SpeedStrap methods: a tire bonnet, a through-the-wheel strap and a ratchet strap with a soft loop. We demonstrated them on a Maverick X3 MAX in the video below; the mounting principles are useful when planning a Maverick R trailer setup, but check the R’s wheels, tires and trailer anchors before selecting straps.
Choose straps and trailer anchor points suited to the vehicle and trailer, then follow PRP’s tie-down instructions before hauling.
