LED Lighting on our Polaris RZR XP4 Turbo

Vision X LED Light

Lighting is something we take pretty serious on all of our build projects here at UTVGuide.net.  We have been amazed with the advancement in off-road light technology in the last 10 years and always look forward to doing something different to showcase this technology. The 2016 Polaris RZR XP4 Turbo is the hottest new four-seat UTV, and for this project buildup we chose to work with Vision X. Vision X Lighting, located in Seattle, Washington, was established in 1997 with the mission to revolutionize the lighting industry. Since that time, Vision X has created one of the largest premium lighting offerings in the world with hundreds of products and applications. Now, the military, border patrol, and even NASA have trusted Vision X on vehicles that cannot work with second best.

Long Distance LED Lighting

We chose to do something different on the build of our Polaris RZR XP4 Turbo. We opted out of a single light bar for individual light pods.  The Vision X LED Light 4.5” Cannon LED Light allows us to adjust 7 individual lights for full control of our lighting.  We can make the overall lighting beam narrow or wide depending on the environment we are driving in.

25 Watt LED Light Cannons:  With 1,000 feet of useable light shining through the desert, the Vision X Light Cannon is a perfect option for todays UTV.   They accommodate the faster speeds through is large IRIS reflector and 25 Watt LED chip, while being lightweight with very low power draw, only 2.08A each.

Adjusting the LED Light Cannon for Any Environment

The ability to add snap-on beam covers to each light provides the industry’s largest beam pattern adjustment to a single light, without having to replace the complete lens, or unscrew and replace. Just snap-on and go.  You’ll notice on our RZR XP4 Turbo, we chose to run the red covers for matching our theme, however red is an ideal color for intense dust. It allows the eyes to see a bit deeper instead of a wall of white dust.  Vision X also offers Yellow, Blue and Clear covers all allowing beam pattern changes as well.  Spot Beam, Euro Beam, Flood beam, and Spot/Euro Combo beam allow the lighting to be adjusted specifically to our needs.  We’ve just ordered some of the Combo covers, so we’ll need to update you how those work compared to running no covers at night. Medium Distance LED Lighting

We wanted a front bumper that looked really clean, not a large focus on one individual part.  We decided that two of the Vision X 3.7” Optimus Round Halo lights would allow us to achieve a clean look, without compromising lighting for medium distance.  The factory headlights are never enough distance at high speeds, so these will help supplement the headlights.  The Optimus Halo has a built in LED Halo that shines as a daytime running light, and also features a 15 degree reflector  for shining the 10 watt LED 380’ of useable light (distance at 1 lux). You can also find the Optimus series LED lights used in many of Vision X’s LED fog light replacement kits for pick-up trucks.

Since we were so happy with the way they turned out in the front, we did the rear lights the same.  While the Optimus lights have a 60 degree option, we wanted to try the Halo version which only comes in 15 degree beam.  The beam is fairly narrow for a back-up light, but the halo is cool.

LED Under Lighting

It’s impossible to do a UTV build without under lighting. When we’re cruising to different stops at night, it’s just cool to flip on the red glow. If we were rock crawling we probably would have opted for the white color, so we can use them more for a rock light, to help spot obstacles.  The Vision X Pro Pods also allow people to see inside the suspension areas and engine area to show off all the nice hardware. Vision X’s Pro Pod have proven to be a staple for under lighting, and the power draw is so low we can run them for a very long time without worrying about the battery going dead.

Billet LED Dome Light

Of course we could have used a Pro Pod, but the Vision X Billet Dome Light is one of the nicest dome lights offered today.  It mounts with 2 screws for a simple installation, and really lights things up inside the cockpit.  They have option for flat mount or tube mount. We’re happy with the light output, and it looks great all day long with that billet style. We have two of them mounted in the cab of our XP4.
