The all-new RANGER SP 570 was the most important utility UTV introduction in the 2022 Polaris lineup. Offered in two-seat and CREW configurations, the redesigned midsize RANGER combined a compact 56-inch width with increased storage, a larger cargo box and improved ground clearance.

Its liquid-cooled 567cc ProStar single-cylinder engine produced a claimed 44 horsepower. Towing capacity was rated at 1,500 pounds, giving the smaller RANGER enough capability for property maintenance, hunting, ranch work and recreational trail riding.

RANGER SP 570 Highlights

  • 44-horsepower ProStar 570 engine
  • 56-inch overall width
  • 1,500-pound towing capacity
  • Larger cargo box with nearly 30 percent more space
  • Improved turning radius
  • Two-seat and CREW configurations
  • More than 40 compatible accessories

Available accessories included Pro Shield cab components, JBL audio and RIDE COMMAND. Polaris also offered a RANGER SP 570 NorthStar Edition equipped with an enclosed cab and factory heating.

The SP 570 name remained in the lineup through 2026. For 2027, Polaris renamed and updated the platform as the RANGER 600. See how it fits into the current range in our 2027 Polaris RANGER lineup guide.

RANGER XP 1000 NorthStar HVAC Improvements

Polaris also improved its full-size RANGER models for 2022. The most meaningful change was an updated air-conditioning system for the RANGER XP 1000 NorthStar.

The redesigned system used a variable compressor intended to provide faster cooling and lower cabin temperatures, including improved performance while the vehicle was idling. That was particularly useful for owners operating at low speeds in hot weather.

Additional RANGER XP 1000 updates included redesigned seats with improved cushioning and bolstering. Select models also received eight-ply Pro Armor X-Terrain tires for increased puncture resistance and durability.

These developments form part of the evolution covered in our history of the Polaris RANGER.

2022 Polaris RZR Pro XP Updates

The 2022 RZR Pro XP lineup received an in-dash charging port that simplified battery maintenance. Pro XP Premium and Ultimate models also gained door inserts that provided additional coverage and protection from the elements.

One of the most consequential lineup changes was the RZR Pro XP Sport replacing the outgoing RZR XP Turbo. Polaris positioned the Pro XP Sport as the new entry point into its full-size turbocharged, multi-terrain RZR family.

Compared with its predecessor, the Pro XP Sport offered approximately eight percent more horsepower and two additional inches of suspension travel. It also incorporated the Pro XP platform’s newer cockpit, chassis, transmission and driveline architecture.

The narrower RZR Trail Premium received Turf Mode for 2022. Unlocking the rear differential reduced disturbance to sensitive ground and could help the vehicle negotiate tight switchbacks.

2022 Polaris RZR 200 EFI Youth UTV

The RZR 200 EFI replaced the long-running RZR 170 EFI for 2022. Designed for drivers age 10 and older with appropriate adult supervision, it introduced considerably more technology, adjustability and off-road capability to the Polaris youth lineup.

Its 180cc fuel-injected engine eliminated the manual choke used on some earlier youth vehicles. Independent front and rear suspension provided seven inches of travel, while 24-inch tires and 10 inches of ground clearance helped the vehicle handle trail obstacles.

RZR 200 EFI Safety and Parent Controls

  • Speed limiting: Parents could select an appropriate maximum speed through the RIDE COMMAND app
  • Geofencing: Allowed adults to establish riding boundaries and different speed limits inside or outside a designated area
  • Helmet Aware: Could prevent the vehicle from starting when the included helmet beacon was not detected
  • Visible speed display: Allowed both the driver and supervising adults to monitor vehicle speed
  • Adjustable ergonomics: A sliding driver’s seat and tilt steering accommodated growing drivers
  • Standard doors: Hard doors provided more coverage than the nets commonly used on earlier youth UTVs

The RZR 200 also came with two helmets, a Helmet Aware beacon, LED lighting and a high-visibility flag. Available accessories included bumpers, rock sliders, windshields, a roof, rear storage and Pro Armor wheels and tires.

Why the 2022 Polaris Lineup Mattered

The 2022 Polaris lineup was more significant than a typical collection of new colors and trim packages. The RANGER SP 570 established a modern midsize utility platform that remained in production for several model years, while the RZR 200 EFI introduced app-based parental controls and geofencing to Polaris’ youth UTV range.

The model year also marked another step in Polaris’ transition away from the original RZR XP Turbo architecture toward the newer Pro XP platform. At the same time, improved RANGER NorthStar climate control and the adventure-equipped GENERAL Trailhead Edition showed Polaris placing greater emphasis on comfort, technology and factory integration.
