2026 Kawasaki Teryx H2 Recall: Clutch Failure Risk

2026 KAWASAKI TERYX4 H2

Kawasaki has recalled approximately 3,585 model-year 2026 Teryx4 H2 and Teryx5 H2 side-by-sides because the drive converter sheave can break and discharge metal fragments. Owners should stop using affected vehicles immediately and contact an authorized Kawasaki dealer for a free repair.

The recall was announced on June 11, 2026, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. It covers three versions of Kawasaki’s 250-horsepower, supercharged Teryx4 H2 and Teryx5 H2 platform.

Why Is the 2026 Kawasaki Teryx H2 Being Recalled?

According to the CPSC, the moveable drive converter sheave can break under certain operating conditions. A failure can discharge metal fragments into the engine compartment and the area surrounding the vehicle, creating impact and injury hazards for occupants or bystanders.

Kawasaki has received 19 reports of drive converter sheave breakage. No injuries were reported as of the recall announcement.

Which Kawasaki Teryx H2 Models Are Affected?

The recall applies to the following model-year 2026 vehicles:

Model Model Number
Kawasaki Teryx4 H2 KRT1000D
Kawasaki Teryx4 H2 Deluxe eS KRT1000F
Kawasaki Teryx5 H2 Deluxe eS KRT1000G

The recalled machines are Lime Green and have either “Teryx4 H2” or “Teryx5 H2” displayed on the driver and front-passenger doors. The Kawasaki name appears on both sides of the vehicle above the rear wheels.

Affected vehicles were sold by authorized Kawasaki dealers nationwide from June 2025 through January 2026. Original retail prices ranged from approximately $37,200 to $43,700.

What Should Teryx H2 Owners Do?

Owners should stop using an affected Teryx H2 until the recall repair has been completed. An authorized Kawasaki dealer will perform the repair at no cost to the owner.

The repair includes:

  • Replacing the movable clutch sheave assembly
  • Installing a clutch-cover guard
  • Reprogramming the engine control unit, or ECU

Kawasaki is contacting known purchasers directly. Owners should not attempt to continue operating the vehicle while waiting for a dealer appointment.

How to Check a Kawasaki Teryx H2 VIN

The vehicle identification number is located on the right-rear section of the main frame, underneath the rear fender and above the rear wheel. The model number can be found in the owner’s manual.

Owners can enter their VIN through the Kawasaki recall lookup page or contact Kawasaki Motors USA at 855-878-4217. Phone assistance is available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pacific Time.

The official CPSC designation is Recall No. 26-550.

What the Recall Means for the Teryx H2

The Teryx4 H2 and Teryx5 H2 introduced a major change to Kawasaki’s recreation-focused lineup. Their 999cc inline-four-cylinder supercharged engine produces 250 horsepower, with that output delivered through a continuously variable transmission.

Because the recall involves a component within that high-output CVT system, owners should take the stop-use instruction seriously even if their vehicle has not displayed unusual noise, vibration or other symptoms. The prescribed repair addresses the issue through a replacement sheave, an added protective guard and revised ECU programming.

Once the recall work has been documented as complete, owners can return the vehicle to service. Buyers considering a used 2026 Teryx H2 should also verify that the repair was completed before purchasing or operating the machine.
