The 2025 Dakar Rally, the 47th edition of this legendary off-road endurance event, commenced on January 3, 2025, in Saudi Arabia. Spanning 14 days, the rally features a prologue and 12 grueling stages that traverse approximately 7,700 kilometers of diverse and challenging terrains, including deserts, mountains, and valleys. This year’s route emphasizes the extreme conditions the Dakar is renowned for, with competitors navigating vast stretches of sandy dunes in regions like the Empty Quarter, rocky trails in Alula, and challenging mountainous paths near Hail. The event has attracted a diverse field of participants, including notable drivers such as Carlos Sainz, who, at 62, is defending his title with a new team, and Nasser Al-Attiyah, seeking to reclaim the crown. The rally also introduces new challenges, such as a 48-hour chrono stage and stages with separate courses for different vehicle categories, testing the endurance and skill of all involved.

Eddy Jr. is not new to Polaris or the factory program, having spent the past few seasons as co-driver for racing veteran and now SCI team principal Craig Scanlon. Now, for 2024, Eddy will take the reins and pilot his own race-ready RZR Pro R Factory vehicle at each of the team’s eight scheduled events.
