2027 Honda Pioneer 700 and Pioneer 520 Lineup: Models, Prices and Colors

Honda’s midsize and compact Pioneer side-by-sides return for 2027, with the Pioneer 700 family offering two- and four-seat configurations and the Pioneer 520 retaining its trail-friendly 50-inch width.

The 2027 Honda Pioneer 700 lineup includes six models divided among standard, Deluxe and Forest trims. The Pioneer 520 remains a single two-seat model available in three colors. These are largely carryover machines, although the Pioneer 700 benefits from the protection, storage and convenience updates introduced for 2026.

Honda has not announced a 2027 Pioneer 1000. The extensively redesigned 2026 Pioneer 1000 family remains Honda’s current full-size utility UTV lineup.

A $1,185 destination charge applies to each 2027 Pioneer 700 model. Honda expects the Pioneer 700 family to reach dealers in September 2026.

What’s New for the 2027 Honda Pioneer 700?

Honda has not announced major mechanical changes for 2027. The Pioneer 700 received more substantial updates for 2026, including a heavy-duty skid plate, larger front brush guards and a reinforced Rollover Occupant Protection Structure. Those improvements carry into the 2027 lineup.

The updated platform also includes Kenda Mastodon AT tires, a USB-C charging port inside the glovebox and a 12-volt power outlet in the center of the cabin. The two-seat Pioneer 700 models add two sealed 15-liter storage compartments beneath the cargo bed.

The Pioneer 700 continues to occupy the middle of Honda’s utility side-by-side range. It is larger and more capable than the compact Pioneer 520 but more manageable than the full-size Pioneer 1000 family.

Honda’s Beltless Pioneer 700 Drivetrain

Power comes from a longitudinally mounted 675cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine. Unlike most competing utility UTVs, the Pioneer 700 does not use a continuously variable transmission or drive belt.

Its automotive-style automatic transmission combines a hydraulic torque converter with three forward gears and Reverse. Three hydraulic clutches and a two-stage shift map manage power delivery through direct front and rear driveshafts.

The geared drivetrain should remain one of the Pioneer 700’s most appealing attributes for buyers who prioritize controlled power delivery, engine braking and the absence of a conventional CVT belt.

Selectable drive modes allow the driver to choose between 2WD, 4WD and 4WD with differential lock.

Pioneer 700 Versus Pioneer 700-4

The primary difference between the Pioneer 700 and Pioneer 700-4 is passenger capacity. The Pioneer 700 uses a two-person seating arrangement and dedicates the rear of the vehicle to its cargo bed.

The Pioneer 700-4 uses Honda’s QuickFlip rear seating system. Its two rear seats can be raised independently to accommodate as many as four occupants. When the seats are folded into the floor, the rear area converts back into a cargo bed.

This design allows the Pioneer 700-4 to carry two, three or four people without using the longer wheelbase associated with a conventional crew-cab UTV. The compact layout can be especially useful on wooded trails and properties where maneuverability matters.

2027 Pioneer 700 Capability and Dimensions

The two-seat Pioneer 700 has a cargo-bed capacity of 1,000 pounds and can tow as much as 1,500 pounds. The Pioneer 700-4 can also carry up to 1,000 pounds in its bed when configured for two occupants, although available bed space and capacity are reduced when the rear seats are in use.

A two-inch receiver is included for attaching a trailer or other towing equipment. The Pioneer 700 and Pioneer 700-4 both have an 8.1-gallon fuel tank.

Independent double-wishbone suspension provides 7.9 inches of travel in front and 9.1 inches at the rear. Adjustable-preload rear shocks allow the suspension to be set for different cargo loads.

The two-seat Pioneer 700 measures 59.9 inches wide and has 11 inches of ground clearance. The Pioneer 700-4 shares the 59.9-inch width and 76.9-inch wheelbase but has 10.7 inches of ground clearance.

The Pioneer 700 is designed as a multipurpose machine rather than a high-performance sport UTV. Its strengths are low-speed control, cargo capacity, work capability and recreational trail use.

Pioneer 700 and Pioneer 700-4

The standard models provide the core Pioneer 700 drivetrain and utility features at the lowest prices. Both are offered in Hero Red for 2027.

The two-seat Pioneer 700 starts at $12,899, while the four-seat Pioneer 700-4 starts at $14,399. Both include adjustable-preload rear shocks, disc brakes, Kenda tires, underbody protection and the updated charging connections.

Pioneer 700 Deluxe and Pioneer 700-4 Deluxe

Deluxe models add electric power steering, black aluminum wheels and a factory-installed cargo-bed light.

The two-seat Pioneer 700 Deluxe is available in Hero Red or Black Forest Green for $14,499. The Pioneer 700-4 Deluxe comes in Black Forest Green and carries a $15,999 MSRP.

Pioneer 700 Forest and Pioneer 700-4 Forest

Forest models are equipped for hunting, property management and outdoor work. Equipment includes electric power steering, a factory-installed Honda winch, a larger front bumper and TrueTimber Atera Camo bodywork.

The Pioneer 700 Forest is priced at $16,499, while the four-seat Pioneer 700-4 Forest costs $17,999.

The Pioneer 520 returns as the smallest UTV in Honda’s current lineup. Its 50-inch overall width allows it to fit through narrow gates, travel on many width-restricted ATV trails and fit in the bed of some full-size pickup trucks.

Power comes from a 518cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with electronic fuel injection. Honda emphasizes low-rpm torque for climbing, towing and working at lower speeds.

The engine is paired with a five-speed automatic transmission and Reverse. Drivers can let the transmission shift automatically or select gears manually using steering-column-mounted paddle shifters. The system can be changed between automatic and manual operation while driving.

Like the Pioneer 700, the Pioneer 520 uses a geared transmission rather than a belt-driven CVT.

Pioneer 520 Capacity and Dimensions

Despite its compact dimensions, the Pioneer 520 includes a tilting cargo bed rated to carry as much as 450 pounds. The bed measures 38.7 inches wide, 25.9 inches long and 9.8 inches deep, and an assist strut makes it easier to dump a load.

The Pioneer 520 can tow up to 1,000 pounds. It also includes under-seat storage and a 4.1-gallon fuel tank.

Independent double-wishbone front suspension provides 5.8 inches of travel, while the rear swingarm supplies 5.9 inches. Ground clearance is 8.5 inches.

The two-seat layout, compact dimensions and narrow chassis make the Pioneer 520 particularly well suited to smaller properties, wooded trails and jobs where a full-size utility UTV would be unnecessarily large.

The 2027 Pioneer 520 is offered in Hero Red, Black Forest Green and Cactus Green. Honda had not announced its MSRP, destination charge or dealer availability at the time of the model’s introduction.

The Pioneer 520 is the better fit for narrow trails, restricted access and lighter work. The Pioneer 700 provides substantially more suspension travel, ground clearance, cargo capacity and towing capability.

The Pioneer 700-4 adds convertible rear seating without adopting the longer wheelbase of a conventional crew-cab UTV. Buyers who routinely carry heavier loads or more than four people should also consider Honda’s full-size Pioneer 1000 models.

What About the 2027 Honda Pioneer 1000?

Honda’s latest model-year announcement covers the Pioneer 520 and Pioneer 700 families but does not designate the flagship Pioneer 1000 as a 2027 model. The substantially redesigned 2026 Honda Pioneer 1000 lineup is only beginning to reach dealers during the second half of 2026.

The current full-size lineup includes the three-seat Pioneer 1000 Deluxe, convertible five-seat Pioneer 1000-5 Deluxe and the new Pioneer 1000 Elite with a fully enclosed cab and factory HVAC.

The redesigned Pioneer 1000 models add throttle-by-wire, selectable drive modes, cruise control, a variable speed limiter and updated interior technology. The Elite is Honda’s first side-by-side with a sealed factory cab, heating and air conditioning.

Until Honda announces a 2027 model designation, these vehicles should continue to be identified as 2026 Pioneer 1000 models.

A Mostly Carryover 2027 Pioneer Lineup

The 2027 Pioneer 700 and Pioneer 520 do not bring major performance or technology changes, but they preserve two distinctive options in Honda’s UTV range.

The Pioneer 520 remains one of the relatively few 50-inch utility side-by-sides, while the Pioneer 700-4 combines convertible four-passenger seating with a midsize chassis. Both platforms also avoid the belt-driven CVTs used by most competing UTVs.
