The 2027 CFMOTO ZFORCE 800 Trail EPS is not an all-new side-by-side, but it continues to fill an important place in the CFMOTO lineup. At just 50 inches wide, it is designed for trail systems that restrict wider UTVs while still providing V-twin power, electronic power steering and a useful list of standard equipment.
For 2027, the ZFORCE 800 Trail EPS returns with an 800cc liquid-cooled V-twin producing 58 horsepower and 50 lb-ft of torque. MSRP remains $13,999 before freight and dealer setup. Nebula Black returns, while Zephyr Blue replaces the previous Magma Red color option.
This is best viewed as a current model-year reference rather than a major product announcement. The ZFORCE 800 Trail has been part of CFMOTO’s U.S. lineup since the 2016 model year, but today’s version has evolved well beyond the original machine.

Why 50 Inches Still Matters
The defining specification is not the engine displacement or horsepower. It is the 50-inch overall width.
Many public trail systems were built around ATV-width restrictions and limit side-by-sides to a maximum width of 50 inches. A wider sport UTV may offer more suspension travel and stability, but it can also be excluded from those routes. The ZFORCE 800 Trail is built specifically to preserve access to narrow trails.
Its 90-inch wheelbase and narrow stance should also make it easier to place between trees and maneuver through tight switchbacks than the larger sport side-by-sides that now dominate the market. The tradeoff is that a 50-inch machine will not feel as planted as a 60-, 64- or 72-inch UTV when speeds rise or terrain becomes more aggressive.
58-Horsepower V-Twin
The 800cc V-twin produces 58 horsepower at 7,500 rpm and 50 lb-ft of torque at 5,750 rpm. Power is delivered through a CVT with high and low ranges, while selectable two- and four-wheel drive and a locking front differential give the driver options when trail conditions deteriorate.
Those numbers will not put the ZFORCE 800 Trail near the top of today’s sport UTV performance rankings, but outright horsepower is not necessarily the priority in a narrow-trail machine. The 800’s appeal is a familiar V-twin power delivery in a compact chassis rather than the acceleration and speed of a wide, long-travel sport UTV.
Suspension and Trail Hardware
Dual A-arm suspension provides 10 inches of travel up front and 12 inches at the rear. Ground clearance is 10 inches, and the machine rides on 26-inch tires mounted to 14-inch aluminum wheels.
Those specifications reinforce the ZFORCE 800 Trail’s intended use. It has enough travel and clearance for normal recreational trail riding, but riders tackling deeply rutted terrain or large rocks may want more tire and ground clearance. Increasing tire size also requires care on a machine whose narrow dimensions are central to its purpose.
Standard equipment is one of CFMOTO’s strongest arguments. The 2027 model includes electronic power steering, a roof, half doors, aluminum wheels and a 3,500-pound winch. Buyers do not need to immediately add several of the accessories that are commonly optional on competing base models.
ZFORCE 800 Trail EPS vs. ZFORCE 950 Trail EPS
The hardest question for a ZFORCE 800 Trail shopper may come from inside the same showroom. The 2027 ZFORCE 950 Trail EPS is expected to remain only about $1,000 more expensive while increasing output to 83 horsepower.
| Specification | ZFORCE 800 Trail EPS | ZFORCE 950 Trail EPS |
|---|---|---|
| Engine | 800cc V-twin | 963cc V-twin |
| Horsepower | 58 hp | 83 hp |
| Width | 50 inches | 50 inches |
| Starting MSRP | $13,999 | $14,999 |
On paper, paying another $1,000 for 25 additional horsepower makes the ZFORCE 950 Trail look like the obvious value. Riders who want stronger acceleration, ride at elevation or regularly carry a passenger will have a compelling reason to step up.
The 800 can still make sense for riders who prefer less aggressive power delivery, place a higher priority on the purchase price or simply do not need 83 horsepower for tight trail riding. Insurance costs and dealer pricing may also affect the real-world difference. Still, the proximity of the 950 Trail makes it important to compare both machines before buying.
A Trail Model With a Decade of History
CFMOTO introduced the original ZFORCE 800 Trail for 2016 alongside the ZFORCE 500 HO Trail. That first 800 Trail carried a $9,999 MSRP and came standard with equipment that included a roof, aluminum wheels and a 3,000-pound winch.
The current model retains the original idea—a V-twin sport side-by-side built around 50-inch trail access—but adds updated styling, half doors, a stronger 3,500-pound winch, a 5.9-inch display and other refinements. Its continued presence in the lineup is notable at a time when much of the sport UTV market has moved toward wider, more powerful and substantially more expensive machines.
Who Is the 2027 ZFORCE 800 Trail EPS For?
The ZFORCE 800 Trail EPS is best suited to riders who need a true 50-inch side-by-side and want more standard equipment than a basic entry-level trail machine typically provides. It should be considered by buyers who ride width-restricted public trails, navigate wooded terrain or transport a UTV where overall size matters.
It is less likely to satisfy buyers whose priorities are high-speed stability, deep mud, big rock crawling or maximum suspension performance. CFMOTO offers other ZFORCE models for those uses, but they give up the narrow access that defines this machine.
The 2027 model does not rewrite the formula, and Zephyr Blue appears to be its primary model-year change. What it does provide is a current version of a long-running concept: useful V-twin performance, a compact 50-inch chassis and a solid standard-equipment package at a price well below today’s premium sport UTVs.
MSRP does not include freight, setup, taxes or other dealer charges. Specifications and pricing should be confirmed with CFMOTO before publication and purchase.
