Honda’s Talon sport side-by-side lineup returns for 2026 with a practical upgrade for its wide-track R models. The two-seat 2026 Honda Talon 1000R FOX Live Valve and four-seat Talon 1000R-4 FOX Live Valve now come equipped with 30-inch tires from the factory.
The larger tires increase ground clearance and improve the Talon’s ability to roll over rocks, ruts and other obstacles. Honda continues to equip the narrower Talon 1000X models with 28-inch tires, preserving their more responsive handling in tight and technical terrain.
What’s New for the 2026 Honda Talon 1000R?
The move to 30-inch tires is the most important update for the 2026 Talon lineup. Previous Talon 1000R models came with 28-inch tires, even though many owners upgraded to larger tires shortly after purchase.
UTVGuide.net tested a Honda Talon 1000R with 30-inch tires shortly after the vehicle debuted in 2019. That test showed how the larger tire size could improve ground clearance and rough-terrain capability without dramatically changing the character of the vehicle.
For 2026, Honda has effectively made that popular upgrade standard equipment on both R models. The Talon 1000R uses 30 x 9-15 front and 30 x 10-15 rear tires mounted on 15-inch wheels.
2026 Honda Talon 1000R FOX Live Valve
The two-seat Talon 1000R remains the model aimed most directly at high-speed desert terrain and wide-open trails. Its 68.1-inch width, 90-inch wheelbase and long-travel suspension give it a more stable, planted platform than the narrower Talon 1000X.
Suspension consists of independent double-wishbone front suspension with 17.6 inches of travel and a 4+ link trailing-arm rear suspension offering 20.1 inches of travel. FOX Live Valve 2.5 shocks electronically adjust compression damping to changing terrain and driving conditions.
The 2026 Talon 1000R FOX Live Valve has a starting MSRP of $23,799, plus a $1,370 destination charge.
2026 Honda Talon 1000R-4 FOX Live Valve
Honda also gives the four-seat Talon 1000R-4 FOX Live Valve the new 30-inch tire package. The R-4 combines the R model’s wide stance and long-travel suspension with a 118.7-inch wheelbase and four-passenger seating.
The longer chassis provides 17.7 inches of front suspension travel and 21.7 inches at the rear. Stadium-style seating positions the rear passengers higher than those in front, improving their forward visibility.

Six-Speed Dual-Clutch Transmission
All 2026 Honda Talon models retain Honda’s naturally aspirated 999cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine and six-speed automatic Dual-Clutch Transmission. Unlike the belt-driven continuously variable transmissions used in most sport UTVs, the Talon’s gear-driven DCT does not use a drive belt.
Drivers can allow the transmission to shift automatically or manually select gears with the steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. The system also delivers true engine braking and includes Honda’s Launch Mode.

Talon 1000R vs. Talon 1000X
Honda continues to divide the Talon family into two distinct configurations. The 68.1-inch-wide R models use a longer wheelbase and more suspension travel for rough, fast and open terrain. The X models are approximately 64 inches wide and retain 28-inch tires, making them better suited to narrower trails and tighter turns.
The addition of factory 30-inch tires makes the distinction clearer for 2026. Buyers who prioritize ground clearance, stability and rough-terrain performance can choose the Talon 1000R or R-4, while riders navigating tighter trail systems can stay with the more compact Talon 1000X platform.
