The 2025 DRT Motorsports Sand Sports Super Show brought the off-road industry to the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa, California, September 19–21. Hundreds of exhibitors filled the buildings and outdoor display areas with new UTVs, custom builds, suspension systems, tires, communications equipment and accessories for the coming dune season.

Custom UTV Builds at the 2025 Sand Sports Super Show
IMG Motorsports VW Thing Polaris RZR
IMG Motorsports combined the unmistakable exterior of a Volkswagen Thing with a Polaris RZR chassis. Beneath the vintage-inspired bodywork were long-travel suspension, SDi E-CLIK shocks and PRP seats and harnesses. It was one of the most distinctive builds at the show and became our most popular conventional build post from the weekend.
TMW Offroad Kawasaki Teryx H2

Maxxis Teryx H2 on 37-Inch Zillas
Maxxis went big with a Kawasaki Teryx H2 riding on 37-inch Zilla tires mounted to Raceline beadlock wheels. The oversized mud tires gave the new high-horsepower Kawasaki an aggressive stance and demonstrated how quickly the aftermarket embraced the platform.
Upfit UTV DSR Turbo Package
Upfit UTV displayed a DSR package with the option of an Evolution Powersports turbo system. The combination was promoted at 350 horsepower, moving the already capable Polaris RZR-based package even further into high-performance territory.
DRT Motorsports Polaris XPEDITION
DRT Motorsports brought a heavily equipped Polaris XPEDITION featuring Jagged X Offroad components, SDi electronics and shocks, Cedar Suspension Co. suspension components, Baja Designs lighting and Valor Offroad wheels and tires. The suspension pieces shown on the vehicle were originally branded JRi; that operation is now Cedar Suspension Co. The build demonstrated how far the XPEDITION can move beyond its showroom configuration.
PRP Seats Honda Talon
PRP Seats displayed one of the cleanest Honda Talon builds we have encountered. The coordinated bodywork, cage and interior showed how a thoughtfully planned build can stand out without relying on excessive ornamentation.
SSV Works and Switch Works XPEDITION
This Polaris XPEDITION collaboration from SSV Works and Switch Works served as both a vehicle build and a preview of upcoming accessories. Evolution Powersports Maverick R Builds
Evolution Powersports arrived with several different interpretations of the Can-Am Maverick R. One emphasized outright performance, while another combined a distinctive body and color treatment with Shock Therapy suspension and Yokohama tires.
Custom Can-Am Maverick R MAX
This highly finished Maverick R MAX attracted attention by blending the four-seat platform with show-car presentation. Whether the vehicle was destined for dirt or display, it showed how quickly builders began personalizing Can-Am’s long-wheelbase Maverick R.
UTV Guide Maverick R at WARN and Factor 55
Our former Can-Am Maverick R project returned to the show with its new owner and was displayed by WARN Industries and Factor 55. The build included components from Alsup Racing Development, Shock Therapy, Rugged Radios, PRP Seats, MRT Tires, Raceline Wheels, Sector Seven, Factory UTV and Evolution Powersports.
New UTV Products and Accessories
System 3 Off-Road RR600 Race Ready Tire
System 3 Off-Road provided an early look at the RR600 “Race Ready” tire. The 10-ply-rated tire was developed for high-performance platforms such as the Can-Am Maverick R and Polaris RZR Pro R, with a focus on predictable high-speed handling, puncture resistance and durability. The introduction was one of the clearest examples of why the Sand Sports Super Show remains valuable: visitors can examine new products before they become common on dealer shelves and finished builds.
Assault Industries NightHawk G2 Mirror and Light
Assault Industries showed its NightHawk G2, which combines a side mirror, integrated lighting and turn-signal functionality. Consolidating those functions can simplify installation and reduce the number of separate accessories attached to a cage or A-pillar.
Rugged Radios Kawasaki Teryx H2 Radio Installation
Rugged Radios introduced a communications setup tailored to the Kawasaki Teryx H2. Vehicle-specific mounting is especially useful in a new platform because it places the radio and controls within reach without compromising the factory interior.
Rugged Radios Can-Am Maverick R Mount
A second Rugged Radios product appeared in the SSV Works display: a new radio mount for the Can-Am Maverick R. The compact installation integrates communications equipment into the cockpit rather than treating it as an afterthought.
SDi Semi-Active Suspension Upgrade
SDi displayed a semi-active suspension conversion for Polaris RZR Pro R and Turbo R models equipped with Walker Evans Racing shocks. The upgrade adds electronically controlled functionality similar in concept to the Live Valve systems found on FOX-equipped trim levels, with additional adjustment and control through SDi’s system.
SDi and Cedar Suspension Co. XPEDITION Suspension
For XPEDITION owners carrying more equipment or driving rough terrain, the combination of SDi E-CLIK shocks and suspension components now produced by Cedar Suspension Co. offers a significant step beyond the stock configuration. The display highlighted both ride-control technology and the strength and geometry needed for a larger adventure UTV.
SDR Motorsports XPEDITION Accessories
SDR Motorsports presented a broad collection of Polaris XPEDITION accessories. Seeing the parts installed together helped show how storage, protection, bodywork and other upgrades can be combined into a cohesive vehicle rather than selected in isolation.
Utility and Adventure UTVs
Upfit UTV Tradesman Ranger XD 1500
One of the most purposeful vehicles at the show was the Upfit UTV Tradesman. Built on a Polaris Ranger Crew XD 1500 NorthStar Edition Ultimate, it used a custom Geiser Performance service bed with organized equipment compartments and a FOX and Shock Therapy suspension package engineered to handle the additional load. The climate-controlled cab and compact off-road footprint make this type of vehicle useful in locations that are difficult to reach with a full-size service truck.
SDi Kawasaki Ridge Crew
SDi equipped a Kawasaki Ridge Crew with Terrain Master 2.1 shocks. The display brought performance-oriented suspension hardware to Kawasaki’s enclosed-cab recreation and utility platform—and gave us an opportunity for a little show-floor humor.
2026 Kawasaki KRX 1000 Rock Edition

Race Vehicles and Extreme Concepts
Speed UTV V8
The Speed UTV V8 vehicle generated more discussion than anything else we shared from the show. Robby Gordon’s machine blurred the boundary between a UTV and a full-size off-road race truck, pairing a V8 powerplant with the proportions and hardware expected from a purpose-built competition vehicle.
Segway Super Villain Race Program
Segway partnered with Evolution Powersports to develop a Super Villain race program with Jacob Zuccone behind the wheel. For a new platform, consistent finishes provide valuable development data and prove durability more effectively than chasing a single headline result surrounded by mechanical failures. The vehicle included equipment from Shock Therapy, PRP Seats, Metal FX Offroad, Maxxis, DRT Motorsports, Rugged Radios and other race-program partners.
UTV Source Segway Super Villain
A separate Segway Super Villain built by UTV Source appeared in the KC HiLiTES booth. It provided another example of the growing aftermarket support for Segway’s high-performance platform.
More Finds From the Show Floor
Mac Designs Storage and Spare-Tire Carriers
Mac Designs displayed storage boxes for the Can-Am Maverick R, Kawasaki KRX and Polaris RZR Pro R and Pro S. The lid-mounted spare-tire design preserves enclosed cargo space while accommodating tires as large as 35 inches.
DRT Motorsports at the Show
As title sponsor, DRT Motorsports maintained a major presence throughout the weekend. Its booth combined vehicle displays, accessories and direct support for customers examining products at the show.
Why the Sand Sports Super Show Still Matters
The 2025 show reflected how broad the UTV market has become. High-horsepower sport machines shared the grounds with enclosed-cab adventure vehicles, practical service builds, race programs and increasingly sophisticated electronic suspension and communications systems. The Kawasaki Teryx H2 was the most visible new platform, while Polaris XPEDITION accessories and Can-Am Maverick R builds demonstrated the depth of development around established models.
