2011 Kawasaki Teryx Buildup Project
2011 Kawasaki Teryx Buildup Project at Sand Mountain
Here is our build project with a shiny 2011 Kawasaki Teryx.
The goals for this build are extreme suspension, lightweight, performance and
trail capability.
The extra power put down by the head work was amazing.
Really made the Teryx super fun to drive in the dunes.
I also had a brand new set of front dune tires that I was
trying out. The 27" STU Razor Blaster is a front steering tire that is
available at Fullerton Sand Sports. This tire really worked well on my Teryx
at Sand Mountain. Tracked well at high speeds and and made turning and
side hill tracking so much fun.
My first trip with the new Teryx was out to Moab for a
little rock crawling. We hit the trails for four days and tackled Poison
Spider Mesa & Golden Spike, Steel Bender, Cliff Hanger, and Green Day and
Helldorado at Area BFE. The Teryx performed beyond my expectations.
The next stage of the build will be upgrades to the engine
and maybe some 30" LT tires. Stay tuned!
30x10R14 STI Roctane XD Tires Mounted on STI Beadlock wheels
Got some big tires to try out on the Rubicon! The tires are
31x1050R15LT/C Pit Bull Growler LT and the wheels are 15" OMF Performance
Billet Center beadlocks.
We have installed a
CBR Performance direct fit replacement radiator. The radiator core
features a 6.6mm fin height, 42mm thickness, triple pass and oven brazed
core. This allows a larger surface area for an efficient cooling process,
including a 20% coolant capacity gain. Compared to the stock radiator
design, a 10mm fin height, 26mm thickness, and single pass. The kit also
includes a 900 CFM Spal high output fan and custom shroud.
Underside Protection:
I dropped my Teryx off at
Factory UTV last week for some skid
plates and see if they could do anything for the rock sliders. I am a huge
fan of using UHMW for
underside protection because it slides over rocks instead of sticking, and
it also doesn't dent like aluminum.
Factory UTV added their standard skid plate in 1/2" UHMW,
then custom made some rock sliders for me. It turned out sick!
Roll Cage, Bumper and Rocker Skids:
Custom built roll cage, bumper and rocker skids by
Roggy Enterprises. Cage is made
from 1 1/2" chromolly. Goal on the cage was to narrow and shorten the "bed",
add good cross bracing, tie in the rear shock tower and make it all bolt-in.
Suspension:
The Lonestar +5" XTR-F suspension kit is 5" wider per side
and has a 1" rear placement for optimum performance. The kit is designed to
have 15.5" of front suspension travel and 15.5" of rear suspension travel
using special position sensitive long travel shocks.
It comes with front and rear shock towers for perfect geometry and is
specifically for the new Fox Position Sensitive Shocks. It uses a dual rate
8.5" travel shock up front, and a dual rate 10" shock in the rear for the
best performance possible for your Teryx. The new shocks provide extra
resistance against bottoming out, and still provide a nice smooth and
controlled ride. The Fox shocks come with dual rate springs, piggy back
reservoirs, and with high and low speed compression adjustment.
Wheels and Tires:
Our first installed upgrade on the new Teryx is a set of
26.5" Pit Bull Rocker tires mounted on 14" DFR Baja Crippler Wheels.
Love the blacked out look.
